We're ending the month of April with a blast, coasting aside a couple of Nijiiro-exclusive Original tunes that were brought together by a returning musical project...

Sonority Scouts - The Penguin and the Coaster Clans

For once, the Sonority Scout brand is out of April Fools territory like in the past and onto current Taiko-related fresh music gaming news! Following up the crossover with Ongeki, last week it was the turn of CHUNITHM to take a hold of REDALiCE's 8OROCHI, as also announced via official Twitter notice.

If you think that goroawase shenanigans were only a Namco-pursued habit, just take a gander at that max note count (in the Miss corner, given the video) to spot aquabluu/pikaby's patented 'handsome number', in reference to the song's name!!

One more fresh Taiko-related finding for the ending week, however, has to be searched away from Sega properties, with the latest DLC pack for the Groove Coaster series' Switch installment. Sure, the big talk of the day was the unheard-of collaboration notice with The World Ends With You, but longtime BanNam fans had fun not only with returning Taiko-playable medleys, but also with the debut of the iconic KAGEKIYO to boot, custom storyboard BG and all!

It's also nice how the hardest difficulty setting's note count (not the Max Chain, mind you) directly references the Nam-Combo value that is also shared by its Oni mode on Taiko, isn't it?

Song of the Week! 23 April 2022

Alongside last Wednesday's arcade update, there was an extra licensed song debut that made its debut the day after. A few days later and it sits here, as our latest SotW candidate!

Time for us to drift, UP AND...

First Video: Challengers

As also advertised on the Taiko no Tatsujin series' Twitter handle yesterday (link), the 2nd Nijiiro-era song contest's circle comes to a close, with the last one of its winners getting its public debut earlier today.

Challengers of the challenging challenge in Challengers (try saying that three times fast) will soon find themselves in quite a picle of many tempo-signatures charting, signing off another KFMO max-difficulty set. Even without the arcade tournament framing scenario, this one is sure to break out some sweat!

First Video: Nijiiro Version V24.08's New Songs

On to today's new song, now! Starting out, here we are with two different staples for the 7* Oni challenge range offered by the Pops genre's attenders, with this istance's cluster-heavy stamina endurer and the slow ballade roles being filled in respectively by Ado's latest Taiko song transplant and songwriter Yuuri (優里)'s first dip into the drumming series.

First Video: Ko

Just a little bit before the next day's GMT Midnight, but we're back with the next Namco Original contender! After Ka troubling even the more seasoned players for an Ura Oni DFC clear for more than a day in what feels ages, here's a Ko which plays it more old-school difficult instead. No cheap visual shots in sight- it's just you and the barrage of notes!

Once again, however, we have to postpone the Song of the Week piece to a Sunday...
