We again have intel that operators across greater Asia have received notification for the next firmware update to Taiko no Tatsujin Green ver. 2.0 Asia ver., including the above tweet and a sneak-peek post from Taiwanese importer Sume. The main outfacing point of the update is the addition of the Kurouto, Meijin, Choujin and Tatsujin trials to the Ranking Dojo (title pun explanation: found in all four trials' titles, 人 is the kanji for "man"), surprisingly only one week after their induction in the Japanese version.

While the Donder community has yet to get their hands on the update, we can speculate that the trials would probably be the same as Ranking Dojo 2020 in Japan (except Nijiiro/Green version differences), and each of the four brand-new tracks introduced here will be unlocked by clearing the trial before their appearance:

Addendum: Hands-on experience from Asian Donders reveals that the four songs are NOT unlockable from Asian Ranking Dojo.

Meanwhile, greater-Asian Donders would likely be overjoyed to hear that this update paves the way for an eventual "Taiko no Tatsujin Mar. 2021 Ver. Kit (Asia)" with some background PC board firmware update. This has been the first time we hear about the new kit since the industry presentation back in September 2020.

[NS1] Private Match Update and DLC Collection Bundle Deals

Do not let the scary germs discourage you from playing Taiko no Tatsujin with your friends! The Private Match functionality (Nintendo Switch Online required) is now available after today's (2020/11/30) update! But what if you and Friend are bored with the 74 songs from the default tracklist?

Also introduced today are six DLC collections that bundle existing DLC by theme, with a small discount slapped onto it. While no new tracks are introduced with the collections, they would be great for new inductees or those who have been holding out on the DLC.

Taiko Goofs: Adventure Edition

A new Taiko no Tatsujin game is always welcome with us, but unfortunately Rhythmic Adventure Pack has not been exactly a marvel in terms of performance and polish. A common complaint by early adapters is the sudden unstable performance of touchscreen controls, which was not found in the original NS1.

[NS1] Last Christmas I Gave Namco My Wallet: Nintendo Switch Version December 2020 DLC

 

After breaking the record of the largest overall tracklist (counting DLC) in Taiko no Tatsujin history, NS1 goes on to snatch a tied first in the largest Classical-genre tracklist (tied with PSP2 at 26). The DLC addition that pushes NS1 to the top is December 2020's Classical Arrange Pack (クラシックアレンジパック) with five arrangement tracks of classical pieces.

In the Pops genre, we are reminded that artists part of the UUUM multi-channel network has been a constant injector of new licenced songs by the eponymous UUUM Pack (UUUMパック). Two more individually-sold tracks are also available, one of which is very seasonal.

First Video: Nihiki wa Nekotomo!

Japanese Taiko players are now able to enjoy the latest piece of free song DLC for the ongoing Switch game, closing the Nekotomo referencing circle with its ending theme being made playable. While a considerable difficulty bump in comparison to the game's launch day Nekotomo track, it doesn't go that much differently from your average Anime song charting of the same Oni rating.
