Chirping Crumbles (May 21st, 2026) - The End of a Rough Chaos

After taking more than a month to complete the time-limited Dark Don Challenge mode's group task (for those not keeping the score at home, the one asking the worldwide arcade fanbase to play 876.000 songs), Taiko no Tatsujin's first take at the alternate-reality-game shenanigans comes to a close, with one final narration slide for the epilogue (click here for the English version).

Following that, there's also another brief tweet in order to profile a few deadlines for non-Chinese Nijiiro builds, both for late-riser applications on the Group Challenge clear title and for the April-sprung events' closure en large:
  • Banapassport players who didn't contribute on the Group Challenge can still claim the event-limited title by playing any song with either the Group Challenge or one of the EX Dark Don Challenge QR codes; late-riser applications will be accepted until May 25th, 5am JP time. All applicable players will receive the Group Challenge title on June 1st;
  • The event's final hidden unlockable song, the newcoming  Rough: CHA0Z, will be unlocked as a default song list entry on May 30th, 7am JP time;
  • Both the Don Challenge 2026 and the Dark Don Challenge events will remain active until September 1st, 9am JP time.
If you're still racking up your brains on how to clear those hidden tasks, keep an eye onto us in the coming days...

Namco Taiko Blog (2026/05/14): Nijiiro ver. May Update Has Everyone Party Late into the Night

sorry we are late but in return we have the video links ready :3

Between the big guns of Dark DonChare and Ranking Dojo 2026, Taiko no Tatsujin Nijiiro ver.'s upcoming update on 2026/05/20 (Japan) and 2026/05/21 (worldwide except mainland China) may be lighter on content, but will be introducing a very important quality-of-life change.

From 2026/05/21, the daily server maintenance originally scheduled for 2am-7am JST will be shortened to 5am-7am JST, except when occasional maintenance is required on the authentication server and update distribution server. The period in which Donders can use Bandai Namco Passport (or equiv.) will be extended accordingly, which is especially great news for our friends in North America/United States where the maintenance would happen at daytime.

Taiko no Tatsujin Nijiiro ver. is also kickstarting a third That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime collab campaign only in Japan between 2026/05/20~07/20:
  • Obtain Milim and Shion mini characters by winning in Battle! Milim Mode (Bandai Namco Passport required), a reskin of AI Battle Performance featuring the draconic demon lord
  • Exchange for past collab mini characters from the in-game item ticket campaign (Bandai Namco Passport required), where one ticket is granted for every credit played including a TenSura track
  • Bid for a chance to win collab design keychains in the merch campaign (Bandai Namco Passport not required)

Namco Taiko Blog (April 16th, 2026) - The Great Arcade Mystery Hunt Descends!

https://taiko-ch.net/urgybrhm3ukw/blog/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/fc31e8cd7fe013376a923b147552c247.png

The countdown from last week has ran its course, revealing on its leave the rise of a time-limited Banapassport-only challenge! The momenuous occasion's magnitude is so big to result into the official development blog's very first multilanguage post, no less.

And so, for once, all we have to do to relay today's news is to just show you the official snaps...

The abridged version goes as follows: there are several different 'anomalies' to be solved in up-to-date Nijiiro Version players, and it's up to Banapassport-geared Donders the task to clear them all!

The time-limited Dark Don Challenge can be accessed through the QR code also shown below the lines, with each of the anomalies to be tackled on a set order, in batch of 'Chapters'. The very first player clearing each anomaly across all event-participating regions (ie: everyone except mainland China) is/will be given a unique title alongside the clear, while the first player to solve all 30 will be announced across official Taiko social media channels at a later date!

If you're at a Nijiiro-equipped game center's reach and want to join the fun, start your mystery-unraveling journey by scanning the QR code below! Bear in mind, this one QR is only for the anomalies of Chapter 1; please reach out the official Taiko blog at the links below for the latest ones.

Chirping Crumbles (April 6th-11th, 2026) - Traces of an Ominous Encounter

While we've already indulged on this ongoing mystery via our SNS feeds, we've come to a point where it's safe to have a recap on the blog about what's going on since April 1st, considering the current state of matters.

Namco Taiko Blog (April 9th, 2026) - Mid-Spring Nijiiro and Livestream Chimes

Nijiiro Version's next update day is slated next week, on April 15th in Japan and the following day for all other regions (excluding mainland China). Three more licensed tunes will join the Taiko ranks for the first time, alongside the iLiFE! song which was teased last Saturday.

On top of this, we also got the date for the next Taiko no Tatsujin livestream event! The broadcast will start on May 31st, with a Questant form for all arcade-related inquiries to be asked (and a chance to be read live by Etou and Kimizu on stream!); the submission deadline is on May 9th.

Namco Taiko Blog (2026/03/19): Nijiiro ver. March Update Kick-starts Seventh Year

Following last month's groundbreaking expansion of online update service to outside Japan, the upcoming update on 2026/03/25 (Japan) and 2026/03/26 (worldwide except mainland China) for Nijiiro ver. kick-starts the seventh year of the 4th generation with new and ported licensed tracks. See the "Track Updates" list after the jump for further information.

The Don Medal Shop also changes into the Spring 2026 season on 2026/03/26 (worldwide except mainland China), bringing in new and returning Namco Original tracks and ported Ura Oni notechart while displacing Summer 2024 items to the default song list. Don't forget to spend any remaining Winter 2025 medals before the count is reset!

Update (2026/03/27): As Don-chan Ekaki Uta is the only Ura Oni ★2 notechart in Taiko no Tatsujin Nijiiro ver., selecting "Random Track Selection" on that difficulty rating when you don't have it unlocked will crash the game. To resolve the issue, Don-chan Ekaki Uta will be removed from Don Medal Shop at 2026/03/28 7am JST and become playable for all players on Nijiiro ver. Those who spent Don Medals to unlock it will have the amount refunded.

This update also brings the Kamen Rider ZEZTZ collaboration campaign, available worldwide (except mainland China) at the same time between 2026/03/26~2027/02/28. Play VISIONS with Bandai Namco Passport (or equiv.)  to obtain the Kamen Rider ZEZTZ full-body outfit.
We understand that the previous Kamen Rider collaboration campaign (Gavv) was only available in Japan between 2025/03/26~2026/02/28 and not in other locales. We are pending confirmation from the Asia ver. official Facebook Fan Page on its status.

Update (2026/03/24): Kamen Rider Gavv collaboration campaign confirmed for worldwide except Japan and mainland China for 2026/03/25~2027/02/28. Play Got Boost? with Bandai Namco Passport (or equiv.)  to obtain the Kamen Rider Gavv full-body outfit.

Finally, a reminder that the clock is ticking for Ranking Dojo 2025, slated to end in late-May 2026 to make way for the next season (2026).

Namco Taiko Blog (February 12th, 2026) - The Romantic Pre-Livestream Nijiiro Moments

In our road to the 25th Anniversary livestream, the Taiko Team is proud to announce the full implementation of the online update service for 4th-generation cabinets, which lets Donders outside of Japan get access to licensed tracks way closer to their Japanese counterparts. Gone are the days of waiting upwards of six months for dongle updates that require manual installation!

With this exciting implementation, the upcoming update for Taiko no Tatsujin Nijiiro ver., scheduled 2026/02/18 for Japan and 2026/02/19 for overseas, will bring a trio of popular Anime songs from both past and current times, as well as the Cosmic Radio 2025 winners and final WADIVERSE tracks dotted around the schedule.

After the jump is a handy grid with all the relevant details, including the latest round of songs to be added into international (non-Chinese) Nijiiro cabs out there!

Namco Taiko Blog (January 16th, 2026) - Nijiiro Version x Arknights Collaboration Reminder

Honestly, the title already says it all! There's nothing more to reiterate from the collaboration's original reveal from the last Taiko Team livestream, other that Chinese Donders will have to refer on region-exclusive schedule arragements via the official WeChat pages.

We'll toss one more reminder as an extra- don't forget that the same Arknights song duo will also become available next week on the Taiko Music Pass!
