Chirping Crumbles (March 31st/April 1st, 2026) - The Eventful Day's Double-Header

April Fools Day is approaching fast once more, and for once it seems that Bandai Namco is having a double serving of Taiko-related shenanigans on their own turf! Starting from tomorrow, the Initial D-based mobile racing game Drift Spirits is allowing the Wada brothers to race head-on-toe with the other vehicular competition, all on their own!

If racing as Don and Katsu feels too unrealistic for your high-octane skirmishes on wheels, however, let it be known that Taiko-themed decals will also be available ingame for the Hiace Van Super GL TRH200V, styled after the Taiko 0 generation's starting color motif.

As for the more 'traditional' drumming antics go, however, it was teased how the upcoming April 1st, 2765 will also mark the return of a lost feature from the Gen3 days: the Don Challenge (or 'DonChare', ドンチャレ for short), a returning feature which once asked Banapassport owners to clear a set number of trials within a month's end in order to unlock a brand-new original song from that month onward.

How will this kind of DonChare roll out? All we have to do is wait a few hours for Japanese game centers to open up their lids and see what this is gonna be about...

Update (2026/04/01): Now we DO know all about this year's April Fools event; see you after the jump to learn about it.

Song of the Week! 28 March 2026

This ending March's Ura feature is less for the faint of heart... and moreso for the faint of belly! It's also the often-unsung hero of one sound company's collaborative efforts with Taiko no Tatsujin's arcade branch from the "Taiko 0" generation's latter end.

Namco Taiko Blog (2026/03/19): Nijiiro ver. March Update Kick-starts Seventh Year

Following last month's groundbreaking expansion of online update service to outside Japan, the upcoming update on 2026/03/25 (Japan) and 2026/03/26 (worldwide except mainland China) for Nijiiro ver. kick-starts the seventh year of the 4th generation with new and ported licensed tracks. See the "Track Updates" list after the jump for further information.

The Don Medal Shop also changes into the Spring 2026 season on 2026/03/26 (worldwide except mainland China), bringing in new and returning Namco Original tracks and ported Ura Oni notechart while displacing Summer 2024 items to the default song list. Don't forget to spend any remaining Winter 2025 medals before the count is reset!

Update (2026/03/27): As Don-chan Ekaki Uta is the only Ura Oni ★2 notechart in Taiko no Tatsujin Nijiiro ver., selecting "Random Track Selection" on that difficulty rating when you don't have it unlocked will crash the game. To resolve the issue, Don-chan Ekaki Uta will be removed from Don Medal Shop at 2026/03/28 7am JST and become playable for all players on Nijiiro ver. Those who spent Don Medals to unlock it will have the amount refunded.

This update also brings the Kamen Rider ZEZTZ collaboration campaign, available worldwide (except mainland China) at the same time between 2026/03/26~2027/02/28. Play VISIONS with Bandai Namco Passport (or equiv.)  to obtain the Kamen Rider ZEZTZ full-body outfit.
We understand that the previous Kamen Rider collaboration campaign (Gavv) was only available in Japan between 2025/03/26~2026/02/28 and not in other locales. We are pending confirmation from the Asia ver. official Facebook Fan Page on its status.

Update (2026/03/24): Kamen Rider Gavv collaboration campaign confirmed for worldwide except Japan and mainland China for 2026/03/25~2027/02/28. Play Got Boost? with Bandai Namco Passport (or equiv.)  to obtain the Kamen Rider Gavv full-body outfit.

Finally, a reminder that the clock is ticking for Ranking Dojo 2025, slated to end in late-May 2026 to make way for the next season (2026).

Song of the Week! 14 March 2026

Happy Pi day

While we can't regale you with either a long list of its decimals or a (literal) pie for the occasion, here's a song with an underlying inkling to number-related shenanigans. A nice tie-in to the latest rounds of Weekend Warrior additions on the arcade front, too!
