Namco Taiko Blog (January 16th, 2026) - Nijiiro Version x Arknights Collaboration Reminder

Honestly, the title already says it all! There's nothing more to reiterate from the collaboration's original reveal from the last Taiko Team livestream, other that Chinese Donders will have to refer on region-exclusive schedule arragements via the official WeChat pages.

We'll toss one more reminder as an extra- don't forget that the same Arknights song duo will also become available next week on the Taiko Music Pass!

Namco Taiko Blog (January 13th, 2026) - Rewards-a-Plenty Campaign Sequel and 25th Anniversary Official Livestream Reveal

A sequel to the reoccurring free-outfits campaign is back, albeit with a slight title deviation!

Running from tomorrow (January 14) up until March 15th, the Dress-up Campaign 2025 Winter (きせかえザクザクキャンペーン2025冬) will net all Banapassport players both returning and brand-new Kigurumi customization elements (full-body costumes, 2-part outfits and Petit Charas), simply by playing in the campaign period. The first 10 elements are unlocked in sequence after each credit play, elements 11-20 are unlocked every two credit plays and the final stretch -elements 21-30- is awarded after three credits' worth of playing, one piece at a time. Just don't forget your Banapassport before entering the Song Selection screen! This campaign will air worldwide, with a separate version for mainland China players coming later in the year.

Another couple of topics were digressed in today's blog entry, for which we'll see you after the jump. One of the two, in particular, was brought by the combined efforts of Chinese Donders, no less!

[RANDOM] - Future Chimes from Foreign Tournaments

WEC 2025 Wahlap competition

Before the end of the year, we finally get to talk on the blog about a China-related cross-arcades tournament we've lightly touched upon our Taiko Time SMS accounts beforehand, bringing a small trove of original content that is bound to come across public arcades in the future, courtesy of China's largest active arcade manufacturer.

Namco Taiko Blog (December 2nd, 2025) - Early December's Worldwide Nijiiro Song Share

A trove of song ports await after the jump! In applicable stores, from December 8th, Japanese Nijiiro arcades will be updated with the latest three AC China-spawn songs' coming, while all other cabinets across the world will be able to access about 20 licensed picks from the Japanese version.

Stay tuned for a few final remarks about the latest online tournament, too!

Taiko no Tatsujin (Mainland China 4th-gen) Autumn 2025 Updates

After our stalking attempt three months back, the teased "Autumn 2025" season large-scale update for 4th-generation Taiko no Tatsujin cabinets in mainland China has been dated for 2025/07/15*, as the preview trailer surfaces on official outlets including Bilibili and Weibo.
(*subject to the dongle work done by individual arcade operators)

While we wait for the full update notes, the main additions of the new update (and beyond) include:
  • 19 tracks added (see below jump) including both mainland China exclusives and catch-up with the rest of the world
  • Rolling in Rewards Campaign Autumn 2025 coming soon (no date listed 2025/07/15~11/14 source)
  • Ranking Dojo 2025 coming soon in October 2025 (2024 trials will retire in September)
  • Drummers' Square mini-program updates coming soon in August 2025 2025/08/06 source, including Track Collection (similar to Liked Tracks in other regions) and by-track score rankings

Like last season, the preview trailer is also paired with a message segment from Morikawa and Etou (at the end of the same video this time), which we will cover in a separate post.

Keigetsu Production Update: Notechart Preview and 3rd Community Poll

Together with the 2025/07/04 preview trailer to mainland China 4th-gen Autumn 2025 season, Morikawa and Etou from the Taiko Team drops new production updates on Keigetsu (桂月), the upcoming new entry to the Kikyoku/Seasons of Asia series.

The updates are also posted in more languages to the Asia ver. official Facebook fan page the next day (2025/07/05), with alternate YouTube and Questant links for those who cannot access the mainland China links.

Official Links
Asia ver. official Facebook fan page

First of all we shall conclude the 2nd community poll about the notechart direction for a small part just before the chorus. The majority of respondents have chosen "balance between melody and rhythm", with "melody first" being a close second.

It is at this point that Etou feels appropriate to confirm that Keigetsu will have an Ura Oni notechart, just like all predecessors in the series. With that in mind, the final notechart direction for the concerned mind is as follows:
  • Regular Oni: general balance between melody and rhythm, but melody takes more precedence (notechart preview video embedded above)
  • Ura Oni: explores rhythm and non-melody elements above the general balance

Continuing with the theme of community participation for Keigetsu, you are invited to participate in the 3rd community poll on these two new prompts:
  • Notechart direction for the chorus, whether to be "melody first", "rhythm first" or "balance between melody and rhythm". A free-form response box is also available for your other ideas. To help you decide, take a listen to a 25-second sample of the part, as well as a melody-boosted version and a rhythm-boosted version.
  • Full Combo title for Oni difficulty. You can respond in all the supported languages, but non-Japanese responses may be translated and/or modified. A free-form response box is also available if you want to provide additional context.
The poll is available in five languages for you to pick:

Taiko no Tatsujin (Mainland China 4th-gen) Autumn 2025 Submitted for Official Approval

Remember when we used to stalk arcade distributors for teasers about the latest firmware in the 3rd generation? Those days are behind us when the 4th generation features just one perpetual version... until now!

For those who don't know (like us 30 minutes ago), all video games are required to obtain official approval before public release in mainland China. Publishers in Guangdong province (like Wahlap Tech for the mainland-China Taiko no Tatsujin) will have to do this via the industry authority of Guangdong Entertainment & Game Industry Association (GEGIA). Submissions and approvals are periodically updated to a public database on the association's website.

Found via the Year 2025 Third Batch list of video game titles pending approval, it was discovered that Wahlap Tech has submitted a "Taiko no Tatsujin Autumn 2025" (No. 77 in the screenshot) through this pipeline. While we have no concrete info on the actual release at this moment, we should be able to expect further announcement from the publisher when the time comes.

Thanks to 田七不甜 from the Taiko no Tatsujin Discord for alerting us of this database and info about the new version!

We're doing more today than testing out the embed code function of BlueSky on our own posts- we're also redirecting you to the latest China-fanbase-oriented story developments! The production of Keigetsu, the upcoming Kikyoku-series song, is going smoothly and a 40-seconds snippet of it was shared online after the poll for theciding the song's own name.

Now, another polling time is upon the Chinese playerbase! The Taiko Team reps are asking for the notecharting approach for the song between following the windpipes (=liuzi flute), following the drums or having a balanced approach between the two. If you want to join the poll, just follow the sourced link and use the QR code you'll find within!

Taiko no Tatsujin (Mainland China 4th-gen) Spring 2025 Updates

For those who have been keeping track of our previous update post (singular) on the mainland China 4th-generation arcade of Taiko no Tatsujin, you might have started to wonder when the "Summer 2024" season will end as the colder months come and go.

That question has finally been answered yesterday (2025/01/03), when the promotional video for the "Spring 2025" season released on Bilibili, dating the large-scale update for 2025/01/15. Main additions of the new update (and beyond) include:
  • 32 tracks added including both mainland China exclusives and catch-up with the rest of the world in the main update. See below jump for the teased tracks and Ura Oni notecharts
  • New players using the Player ID to set up their Donder profile can play their first credit for free
  • Rolling in Rewards Campaign Spring 2025 coming soon (no date listed) (2025/01/15~04/22)
  • Ranking Dojo 2024 coming soon in February 2025 2025/02/19 (2023 trials will retire on 2025/01/28)
  • Drummers' Square mini-program updates coming soon in February 2025 2025/02/19, including the overall result panel, Ranking Dojo data and player search
While there is no full update notes from the WeChat official account as of this writing, we will continually update this post as further information arise.
Addendum (2025/01/10 onwards): Updated with full initial update notes, and we will continue to do so with any future supplementary updates. Check our Region Lock Checklist (published on Google Drive) for comparison between all regions.

Addendum (2025/02/16): Supplementary update dates Ranking Dojo 2024 release and Drummers' Square mini-program updates for 2025/02/19. In addition to the above additions, you may wish to note these changes that will take effect as well:
  • Cooldown between Donder name changes will become 90 days
PS: While not a new change, you might also wish to note that each name change is subject to approval before taking effect, taking 1-2 working days
  • The login QR code will no longer be accessible directly from the chatlog in the WeChat official account, but will still be accessible from the mini-program

Addendum (2025/03/29): April Fools 2025 campaign
  • Play  †††Chaos Time the DARK††† on any difficulty to receive the special-plated title "Chaos Time Lich" (カオスタイムの闇人) as from April Fools 2024 in other regions

Taiko Team's Morikawa (producer for mainland China 4th-gen) and Etou also spoke about the update in a video letter on Bilibili, including development on a certain previous contest...?

Kikyoku/Seasons of Asia Series New Entry Naming Contest Result Announcement

Together with the announcement of the large-scale update for Taiko no Tatsujin (mainland China 4th-gen), the result for the Kikyoku/Seasons of Asia Series New Entry Naming Contest is also announced in a video letter on Bilibili dated 2025/01/03. With the accompanying announcement on the Asia ver. Facebook Fan Page the next day (embedded above), we are talking about this in a separate post.

As shown in the slide image, the winning name is 桂月 (Keigetsu) submitted by Link, meaning the moon (and the osmanthus tree on it as told in legends), as well as an alternate name for the eighth month of the Chinese lunar calendar. While themes of autumn and winter are common among entries given how spring and summer are very well represented in the series (like Shunyuu and Kayou), this name implies autumn vibes without actually using the typical kanji (秋), as well as moon viewing traditions in mid-autumn not uncommon across East Asia.

The video letter also mentions the very close runner-up of 涅槃 (Nehan, meaning Nirvana) submitted by multiple respondents, literally down to the final minutes of decision. The original meaning of breaking free from the cycle of rebirth was invoked by respondents to commemorate the release of the mainland China arcade version, symbolizing breaking free from years of waiting.

With the kanji name determined, Taiko Team will begin working with the musical talents to shape the final product. Stay tuned to all official channels for future developments on this endeavor. (and maybe more opportunities for Donder input?)

Twxttxr Snxppxts (December 13th, 2024) - 2024's Final Polling Round for Upcoming Songs

Often times across the Nijiiro Version firmware line's tenure, game center-affine Donders were polled by the Taiko Team via anonymous questionairs as a reference for eventual future song inclusions. We've got another of these online, but this time around everyone's invited to vote!

From today until December 27th, you can hop onto one of the following language-affine Quesant forms to write down the name of one/more song/s per genre you'd like to see on Nijiiro Version arcades in the future! As usual, these questionairs are made just as a way to gauge a "general-idea" reference pool and as such, votes are not binding to the final outcomes nor they'll be subject to public reveals of sorts.

Below are all the relevant Quesant poll links, with the latter three taken from an entry from the official General Asia ver. Facebook page:

Taiko no Tatsujin (Mainland China 4th-gen) Summer 2024 Updates

To be honest, we have not been actively keeping up with the mainland China port of the 4th-generation Taiko no Tatsujin arcade since its release back in September 2023. Here we are picking up the crucial points of interest from the past month, just in time with their first content update.

"Drummers' Square" Mini-program (2024/06/28)
Related official links:
The "Drummers' Square" (鼓眾廣場) button is finally added with actual functionality after nine months of being just a "work in progress" message. Like the Donder Hiroba companion site for the rest of the world, this mini-program provides handy functions to Donders in mainland China in regards to their Donder profile, all presented in a significantly nicer graphical design to boot.

Section Functionalities
Edit Appearance
更換形象
Customize your personal Don-chan avatar
Collection
收藏品
Check the outfit items you have unlocked, and the unlock conditions for those you haven't
Gameplay Scores
遊戲成績
Check the scores, crowns and score ranks obtained
My Settings
我的設置
Change your gameplay settings, including your Donder name and title, default modifiers, whether to dislpay Sou-uchi notecharts etc.

While a "Rankings" (排行榜) button is also present on the main menu, it is not yet operative at this moment. User-made Challenges and Tournaments are also not yet available to the mainland-China port. The official posts do leave open the possibility for new functions in the future.

Unfortunately, none of the functions will work before playing your first credit on a mainland-China cabinet, so we are unable to show you anything in further detail outside of official WeChat posts.

Summer 2024 Updates (2024/07/18 and 2024/07/31)

The mainland China port finally gets its first content update on 2024/07/18, after a pre-update livestream on 2024/07/12. This long-overdue update adds:
  • 78 tracks
    • Should be 81 tracks due to AI Performance Battle mode unlocks (show in trial play on livestream)
    • 8 mainland-China exclusive tracks (4 series debuts, 4 revived from AC12 Asia)
  • 6 Sou-uchi notecharts
  • AI Performance Battle mode (AI對戰演奏)
  • Ranking Dojo mode (段位道場)
    • At release, the 2023 trials from 5th Dan to Tatsujin (with slight modifications) is open for challenge.
    • In a video message played on the livestream, Etou confirmed it is a conscious choice to FIRST put up the complete 2023 trials for mainland Chinese Donders, in consideration that the mainland China port first began operation in 2023. The 2024 trials will be available to mainland China in the future but no fixed timeline is provided.
    • Also work in progress (no fixed timeline): Ranking Dojo Gaiden, Ranking Dojo results on "Drummers' Square" mini-program
A supplementary online update is scheduled on 2024/07/31, adding 8 more tracks and granting the Donder! World Championship 2024 special-plated titles to the participants.

Addendum (2024/08/02 onwards): Further supplementary online updates; click date for original WeChat posts.
