Day 12 - 12 Days of Taikomas

On the twelth day of Christmas, the last hurrah has sent to me:
actual Christmas music
random gaming artists
a staffers grab bag
multi-track drifting
nine keysound burgers
surrender peer-pressure
some jumpscares

sympathy 4 the grinch 100 gecs

The old-icon-labeled genre might be the same for all tracks today, but the final day's topic at hand is only one: Christmas! Let's see how four different parties etch tunes about it in radically-different ways, starting out from the one track suggestion from Hisstocrat.

What you're hearing at here is the first non-album single release from the American hyperpop duo 100 gecs, consisting of people living literal miles away from each other's residence in St. Louis, Missouri: Dylan Brady and Laura Les. The two met at first during a rodeo and talked together about setting up a musical collaboration act ever since 2012 in a party the two were invited to, resulting in the release of the release of their self-titled debut EP in 2016, after almost a year of joint recording. As of the act name's origins, though, don't bother asking- the two have made quite the funny habit of changing up the story on each interview session they've been in!

Sympathy from the grinch came out in December last year, with the funny visualizer up here parading its coming. Album-release-wise, it sits between their first remix album from 2020, 100 Gecs and the Tree of Clues, and the upcoming major album 10000 Gecs, the first single of which (Mememe) got released earlier this year, peaking 41st in the US Rock charts.

Christmas Nante Kyomi Nai Kedo (クリスマスなんて興味ないけど) Camellia feat. Nanahira

We're bound to receive a proper Camellia original song in Taiko come 2022, so why don't tide the wait with something Christmas-y from him? Suggested by Glas, this is one of many collaborative pieces with the Utaite meteor from 2008 Nanahira (ななひら), whose voice can already appreciaed in Taiko on the Namco Original tune Love♡Spice♡Like You!!!

Released two years ago under the title 'I'm Not Interested In Christmas', this is one festive tune which got its album debut with 2019's GO---I'N! (ごーいん!), currently the latest Nanahira album release spotlighting brand new collaboration tracks with Camellia, with a few extended versions and remixes packed in as extras. Despite being one of the brand-new originals for the album, the song even got featured as a playable track in Muse Dash!

It's A Pony Kind Of Christmas My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic

Among other things for everything Taiko, 2021 was the year where the Internet-popular My Little Pony animated reboot got a hold into the officially-licensed tracks pool via Pop Tap Beat. One last Discord moderator request from lily ♪ takes us back to Equestria's enchanted lands in order to talk about another song surrounding that facet of the MLB fanbase... one that is not from the actual show, too!

Released on November 6th, 2015
via digital distribution channels, It's A Pony Kind Of Christmas is a holiday album starring the My Little Pony cartoon's voice acting staff with Vancouver's Phoenix Chamber Choir, in a selection of festive songs both from the public domain camp and from the animated show's lore, be it for insert songs or album-exclusive brand new renditions such as the title-giver album opener. Most of these tracks, including this one, credit 'Mane 6' as the singers, consisting basically of the voice actresses of the main 6 characters of the show: Rebecca Shoichet (Twilight Sparkle), Ashleigh Ball (Applejack and Rainbow Dash), Shannon Chan-Kent (Pinkie Pie), Kazumi Evans (Rarity) and Andrea Libman (Fluttershy). A month prior the album's digital release, it was also published physically on a limited run with extra insert tracks from a Christmas-themed episode of the show, by the title of A Hearth's Warming Tail.

\frac{\textup{sig}=\frac{821}{149}}{bpm\approx533} Kurokotei

Things come to a close today with one unusual Christmas song requested by hue (aye, it was released on Christmas Day last year, it counts), quite the experimental track from one artist we've already seen trying her mettle on the last Faith Creation song contest with no avail. Really, I had some sort of a familiar feeling the last time this subject was brought upon, but again- I can swear there's someone behind this handle that I met a LOT of years ago online, long before this blog's inception. Weird...

...let's get down to business, though- this track whose title I'm not to type back/copypaste again is from one French composer well versed in the BMS scene: Kurokotei (黒皇帝), whose BOFU 2016 entry Chronostasis soared the music gaming sky in select mobile releases, from Arcaea to Phigros and even Lanota with its remastered version from this year! This artist also had a commissioned song released for Rayark's Cytus II, under the name of honeykill.

Taking quite the risqué path that even enticed some Japanese dude who fights CGI sharks, Kurokotei has opened a week-long poll tweet to keep track on how many retweets, likes and replies it gathered, in order to decide her next song's BPM and timing signature based on the results. The target BPM became the number of retweets (533) while the timing signature is taken by dividing the number of likes to the number of replies from the same post (821/149), all information enclosed in the peculiar title you can read up here.

*whew* At long last, we came to the end of these 12 silly days! Thanks for sticking with us, as much as to all the people who have joined the fun this year! From last year to this one, we've had quite the BIG leap on unique song requests, so I should probably think of a better format way, should we (I) go through this craziness all over again...

Until then, have a good one today, regardless of what you're celebrating, while we end things up with one uplifting message from one of the featured composers of this year.

Take it away, Kurokotei!
