Song of the Week! 31 October 2020

Well, here we are again: another Song of the Week falling under the dreaded Halloween night. One Halloween time in which we actually ran out of spooktacular Namco Originals to talk about, as they've already been talked about in the past few years... which means, that...

...oh, dear... it can't be, not again, not again, not againotagainOTAGAINOTAGA-

[NSwitch RPG] - Rhythmic Adventure Pack's Western Release Date Reveal!

We've already heard when the combo re-release deal is coming out in Japan, and now it's time for the Western release date! Courtesy of Christopher Columbus from Fate/Gr-*a-hem*, Bandai Namco's latest trailer reel for the game, we now know that the Rhythmic Adventure Pack will launch on December 3rd, just a week after the Eastern launch. It will also be possible to individually purchase one of the two games from the eShop without the bundled deal that's been advertised these past few months.

This is also the official release date for Europe as well (source, from Bandai Namco UK's Twitter feed), which will get a unique physical edition for it!... kinda. Boxed copies for the game will be distributed in select EU nations, but those will only bear an eShop download code for the digital version; if you want the two games inside its dedicated game card, acquiring the Japanese version is the only way.

[AC0 Asia] An Evergreen Return to Rank: Green ver. 2.0 Asia ver. October Update

While the greater-Asian Donder masses wait for the eventual arrival of the 4th-generation of arcade firmware, it must be reassuring that the current Green ver. 2.0 firmware still receives updates to catch up with the Japanese counterpart, even if the news isn't coming from the official Asian ver. Facebook...

In addition to picking up the comparatively licensing-friendly tracks (including "weekend-warrior" additions, the second DEEMO collab and the first batch of AI Battle Performance rewards), this update also brings back the Ranking Dojo to greater Asia with the same set of trials as Ranking Dojo 2020 in Japan... well mostly the same, except the by-song goals (now combined across all three songs) and the 4th goal of some trials (removed, but all are drumroll goals) due to the limitation of the 3rd-gen architecture.

Like in previous iterations, songs used in Ranking Dojo without other unlockable methods can be obtained through clearing the rank just before their appearance. This time, memoria ficta will be unlocked if you cleared Ninth Dan (九段) (example).

A final minor change is the addition of the end-of-credit reminder to wash your hands after playing (example).

Addendum (2020/10/29): The official Asian ver. Facebook has released its announcement. Also, greater-Asian Donders have confirmed that Mekadesu. Ura Oni and Taiko Drum Monster Ura Oni are not yet available.

Green ver. 2.0 Asia ver. New Songs: October 28 2020

Twitter Snippets (October 21st-28th, 2020) - We Missed Stuff, feat. Show Your Moves + New Taiko Switch Feature

Last week, the Taiko no Tatsujin official Twitter account wasn't only keen on reminding people about the latest arcade going-ons, as there have been a pair of nuggets that escaped our radar.

The first of which involves the release of a partnership video with Japanese online store Asobistore, starring a sextet of dancers giving their coreographies to a quartet of songs available in Taiko gaming. While the Idolm@ster SideM tracks may not be everyone's stick, it's safe to say that your average Taiko fan might have a bigger investment on how to dance with Angel Dream and Saitama 2000, wouldn't you agree?

Be sure to stick with us 'til the end, as there has been some interesting developments that date to this very day!

First Video: Favorite Days

We came late to Bandai Namco's EDM party reveal, but just as timely as ever for its arcade Taiko debut! From Vocaloid sensation Tell Your World's creator comes a female-lead EDM piece whic is translated into a dou-beats-based Oni Taiko chart, not that much dissimilar to Sugar Song to Bitter Step of J-Pop/Pops fame.

Namco Taiko Blog (October 23 2020): An Electrifying After-school Special with the Den'onbu Tie-in

Quick one today (well not TODAY-today, oopsies), but Bandai Namco's electronic dance music character project Den'onbu (featuring high-school girls and their extracurricular EDM bands) makes an appearance in arcade Taiko no Tatsujin (March 2020/Nijiiro ver.).

In true extracurricular fashion, the series of song additions will be on three consecutive Wednesdays, instead of Saturdays as the usual "weekend warrior" style. You can preview these songs (and more) on the Den'onbu main site in the Music section.

March 2020/Nijiiro ver. New Song: October 28 2020
