[PSA] - Get Your Taiko DLCs Before The eShops' Closure

One bit of news that has made the rounds of gaming in the past month was the upcoming closure of the Nintendo eShop platforms for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U systems worldwide, meaning that no further additional purchases of any kind will be allowed after this coming March 27th.

For the time being, it will still be possible to use the platform afterwards to both update digital/packaged games in your possession and re-download eShop content (games/DLCs) that were already purchased before the store fronts' ending. This means that we're at the final raw call for Japanese-systems-owning donders to catch whatever piece of (the still available) DLCs they're missing for the trilogy of Japanese Taiko games on both systems.

As a post-script addendum, we remind you that the digital versions of both 3DS and Wii U games were already removed from the storefront beforehand, and that its former purchasers can still be able to redownload if these were already bought when they were available, alongside all their respective single/bundled DLC deals.

DLC Termination Bulletin: 2019 Q1 Edition

 

Among the rush to report the newest updates to the current games, we can only check the older console games sporadically. Unlike the "goodbye songs" removals in the arcade scene that gets dedicated Namco Taiko Blog posts, termination of DLCs in console releases are usually only given notice on the main site, or sometimes only known when you cannot find the song/pack from the stores anymore.

Coming forward, we are looking to round-up these "DLC Termination Bulletins" once about every three months. If you so happened to find a DLC disappearance that you want us to cover as soon as possible, please also let us know.

Closing Up the Past: Changes of Downloadable Content for Wii U1 and Wii U2

We're coming ever closer to the release of Wii U3, and it is high time Taiko Team end the matters with the previously two installments, all of the changes to be carried out on November 19 2015.

The biggest news to drop is that the downloadable version of Wii U1 will be retreated from the Nintendo eShop. From the change onwards, if you want to catch any of the Wii U1 exclusive songs you will have to hunt down a packaged version, which will reasonably be getting rarer and rarer.

And as with the change happened to Wii U1 when Wii U2 came out, some of the Wii U2 DLC (and one from Wii U1) will either be converted to paid DLC or completely removed from further purchasing. The full translated list is given after the jump.

HORI's Taiko Controller Pro: More Info and Now Accepts Pre-order

A report from Famitsu gives us more info on the newest model of Taiko Controller, manufactured by HORI. The controller set, officially named Taiko no Tatsujin Exclusive Controller Pro., is expected to be put up for sale this summer at 29,800 yen (tax included), and is open for pre-order at HORI's web store now.

First video of Kumamoto Surprise!

Now that the Wii U has reached the 100-songs milestone thanks to the monthly DLC features, the Variety genre finally gets bigger with the song Kumamoto Surprise! (2/3/4/6)

While its Oni video doesn't bear any surprise for the 6-star tier, the song features a bunch of Taiko characters and the black bear Kumamon -Kumamoto prefecture's mascot- as custom dancers, while many iconic elements from the Japanese prefecture pop in the background, such as the Kumamoto Castle and lots of healthy fruits!

Namco Taiko Blog (April 17 2014, 1 of 2) - Taiko Wii U April DLC

With all the craze over the arcade collaborations and a new 3DS Taiko game in the works, let's not forget the home console! On Taiko Wii U's website, the April DLC content has finally been announced, with five new free DLC songs.

HORI's new Tatacon model for Taiko Wii/Wii U games

Before our usual Saturday feature, there's a small update from gaming website 4Gamer.net that needs a mention. The image above shows a brand new custom Tatacon model that will be released this summer by HORI, the same console accessory company that released years ago the custom Memory Stick PRO Duo cards for the third Taiko PSP game's release. 

This Tatacon is compatible with all the Taiko games being released on the current home Nintendo consoles, and pre-orders are already available on the manufacturer's online store.

Namco Taiko Blog (13 January 2014) - Taiko Momoiro Version at JAEPO 2014

A quick one for this Thursday. While a lot of people in the world  associate the day of tomorrow with the annual Valentine's Day event, for many Japanese companies focused on entertaining like Bandai Namco it's the opening day of the Japan Entertainment Expo's 2014 edition! The current Momoiro Version build for the latest Taiko arcade models will be made available for everyone to play with for free, together with other cabinets in the Bandai Namco booth.

This year's JAEPO will last two days (February 14th and 15th). Like in the past editions, only in the latter date it will be possible to access JAEPO for everyone, without being a share-holder businessman!

On this blog entry's closing lines, Etou mentions that another blog entry was supposed to be published today, but he had to pull it back for a later date due to schedule changes.

Taiko no Tatsujin Wii U January 2014 DLC: More details

We wrote in our previous post that another batch of free songs are headed towards the latest console Taiko and this post on senpaigamer.com confirms them for January 22, 2014. Just to recap, the six songs are:

• JUST LIVE MORE
• Miku Miku ni Shite Ageru (Shite Yan Yo)
• Monster Hunter 4 Medley
• Ryougen no Mai

That's not all though! More costumes will be available for it as well, including this sweet new Felyne costume from Monster Hunter 4 and related backdrop! No word whether you have to pay for these yet.

[RUMOR] Taiko Wii U's January DLC songs

While no updates for Taiko Wii U's website occured since last month, many anonymous voices from the Web are reporting the supposed free content of January's DLC lot. Take this info with a pinch of salt!
