Say, do you remember Pop Tap Beat, the one Taiko-related title whose copyright was registered a few years ago and never heard anything about in official Taiko-related sources ever since? Well, it just turns out that not only that is a title that is still happening, but that it's... already out. Really, it just came out of the blue, earlier today!!

Taiko no Tatsujin Pop Tap Beat is a digital-only title that has been made available worldwide, exclusively as part of the Apple Arcade subscription model, available to iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV. It launched with 31 songs, some of which making their series debut with this subscription-linked game. Wonder of all wonders, it's also available worldwide with a full English translation, song titles et all! We'll hit you back with more details about the game and its dedicated song list page soon enough.

Two of the newcomers are animation-styled licenses, one harkening to soccer lore with regular 1/16 and another catering to a certain Internet-propelled fanbase with an easier chart that doesn't take it lightly on the BPM side of things.

It's nice to see some newcoming launch representation for both Japanese and Westerners alike!

For the more 'core' Taiko genres, on the other hand, we have a brand new vocal track inspired by Genpei Toma Den's music once again, in a chart that blends dense 1/16 charting a-la Guren no Yumiya with some nasty tempo changes to keep tensions high until the very end.

On top of that, we surprisingly got an official English version of one of console Taiko gaming's oldest tutorial-oriented treats to date! It shares the same charts as Onpu no Uta as well. Both the game's JP and EN version also bear the original version of Onpu no Uta, with the English game's song list naming it as Onpu no Uta -Japanese Version- instead.

Addendum (2021/04/03): If the current 31-track song list seems weak, rest assured that track additions are planned to come in future version updates of PTB, says the Taiko no Tatsujin smartphone team in a reply to a fellow Donder on Twitter.
