A quick feature for a short song, coming up! S-M-I-L-E is the 7th opening theme of the kids-oriented Hana Kappa (はなかっぱ) anime, airing in all of the show's episodes that were broadcast between April 2016 and January 2017.

The series is based on writer Tadashi Akiyama (あきやまただし)'s series of children's books of the same name, depicting the everyday life of the Hana Kappa family in the fictional Yamabiko Village in 8 main picture books, starting out on July 21st in 2006 and spanning further picture book spinoffs about other characters inhabiting the village. In 2010, the setup was picked up by the NHK for an ongoing series of 10-minute-episodes anime production, with Hana Kappa now also being the name of the flower-donning kappa protagonist the story's setups gravitate around at, with the recurring thread of his head flower changing aspect a lot instead of blooming the expected "definitive adulthood flower" and it being a prized item to steal by the mischievious Garizoo and his evil master Kuruwaneya Chyoubee. The original books' setup in the anime was overhauled from characters/places either changing or getting removed from the source material's to the point of driving the franchise's succeeding materials produced for it, and even altering later reprints of the original books to better resemble the anime.

The peppy S-M-I-L-E is performed by Moka Kamishiraishi (上白石萌歌), with a lyrics set penned by the nick-named duo of Iijimaken (イイジマケン) and el, who also was the song's composer. Wonder momoi arranger Masatoshi 'manzo' Sashita (坂下 正俊) was also tasked with this piece's arranging direction!

Clocking around 37 seconds, here's one of the series' shortest playable songs that has been ever recorded! From it's mono-Don Kantan notechart down to its handswitch-trainees-geared Oni one, you're sure to found plain, clusterless 1/16 patterns and plenty of drumrolling moments in this arcade-removed pick, no matter the mode you'll choose!
