Despite the fact that the drum controller not being supported in the story modes was very explicitly conveyed by Japanese promotional materials and relayed by us from the very beginning, many of the western folks getting their hands on Taiko no Tatsujin Dokodon RPG Pack/Rhythmic Adventure Pack seems to not like that.
Today, with the Version 1.0.4 Update, Bandai Namco caved to the Populus by finally adding drum controller support to NS-RPG. The drum controller has to be connected as Player 2, and only covers controls during drum performance (battles and song challenges). To activate Taiko Magic in Mystery Adventure, you need to press both the L- and R-button on the drum controller.
You still need a Joy-Con connected as Player 1 to handle the rest of the controls like moving Don-chan in the map and navigating menus, which you cannot do on just the drum controller.
