Taiko no Tatsujin: V Version! [UPDATE]

Taiko Drum Master: Tokumori!

*thanks to chatbox user Dary16 for the find!*

What you're looking at is not the title for yet another software 'version' for the current arcade generation, but instead it's the title for the next portable console entry for the Taiko franchise, making its debut on Sony's Playstation Vita!

Announced in this week's Famitsu issue, Taiko no Tatsujin V Version (太鼓の達人 Vバージョン) aims to bring back the Taiko cheer to Sony users, four years after the last PSP game's release. The game is slated to be released on July 9th, bringing over 80 songs.

Much like PSP 2 and DX, the V Version will feature a signature Story Mode called the Donder Quest (ドンだークエスト), where the RPG-styled battles from Taiko DS 3 and 3DS 2 will make their debut. However, the Famitsu issue doesn't mention anything else for said mode, save for the fact that Japanese seiyu Ari Ozawa (小澤亜李) will be the dubber of Maple, one of the game's new characters and (supposedly) a new friend for the Taiko brothers.

What we do know right now, however, is a generous portion of the game's starting songlist! By this time, you know the gist: a red New! is for Taiko firsts, while a blue New! is for console debuts.

As usual for Taiko Sony games, the licensed genres receive new songs in form of fan-favorite tunes which never got in any Taiko game before, especially for the Anime genre which will end up with songs from Sword Art Online and A Certain Scientific Railgun, among the others. All the other genres overall have something new to offer from sources which never have been featured in Taiko games before, as well as the expected return of some classics for the J-Pop and Game Music categories.

As we are still waiting for this week's stream to go live, it's possible that this game will be revealed in there as well, so expect from us more details (and possibly some Famitsu scans) about the first Taiko title for PS Vita in the next few days. Until then, take care!

UPDATE: Just like for the other console titles, a test website page for Taiko V Version as been created and can be reached with this link, until the definitive layout is being created. That's more than enough to claim this Taiko game's coming a legit fact, even without direct Famitsu scans!
