Celebrating YOU for the Taiko Time 7th Anniversary

Our Anniversary celebration could not have been complete without a showcase for the loyal readers we have, and this is for you guys!

Again, we are only three guys trying our best to bring you Taiko no Tatsujin scoop outside the mostly Japanese-exclusivity (not completely as of recently, gratefully), and we wouldn't have stayed for 7 years without your continued support, and even the occasional tip-off to stuff we ourselves missed.

As a collective gratitude, here is us dedicating one whole post on the hidden talents among yourselves!

Made By You: DRAGON KILLER and more

After a long hiatus, the Made By You segment makes its grand return! Made By You will now be coming at you every two weeks, every Wednesday. This week, we'll be looking at another 3 maps.

From Sayaka-, previously known as dialgadu77, we have a hard rock song from bemani game REFLEC BEAT limelight. 96 and Mutsuhiko Izumi, two of the most prominent guitar artists from bemani's in-house stable of artists, team up to give this difficult rock song.

The chart's no slouch, making full use of the frantic percussion to give a nice 10* rock drum chart.

crystalsuicune provides another nice traditional-esque bemani song, with a chart reminiscent of the Kikyoku series. This song originates from beatmania IIDX, and has a chart comprising of simple clusters and makes for a good chart to practice.

A unique chart, as it's 10 minutes long! This song is a remix of the song 'goldenslaughterer' from visual novel Umineko no Naku Koro Ni, and provides for a long marathon chart. Will your endurance hold up for the whole song?

Made By You: Entrance and more

We're back with another 3 maps! As always, keep sending in those charts.

A song from mobile rhythm game Cytus returns! Entrance was known as the hardest song in Cytus at initial release (updates have since provided harder songs). There are secret variations of the track available on Cytus as well; simply slide the wings on either side of the title into the center to access hidden difficulties.

The version above is the standard playable version, and tetsutaro's given it a full 10* treatment. With speed and tricky clusters that require handswitching, it lives up to the difficulty set by it's game of origin. Beware of the extremely long stream at the chorus!

Made By You: F-L-O-W-E-R and more

It's been a while since we last had this section, hasn't it?

Packer returns with a Taikojiro chart! It's F-L-O-W-E-R, originating from Kirby Triple Deluxe, and is the boss battle theme for the third phase of Queen Sectonia, the final boss. Of course, we all know Kirby, the platformer game featuring the little pink puffball himself, Kirby.

Packer's made this chart with a decent amount of difficulty to fit the marching band drums in the song, with simple but moderately long streams to go along with the short clusters that make up most of the song.

Made By You: YURERO and more

This week, we take a look at some of your maps, with some special unique features! Curious? Then read on...

From tetsutaro, we have this map from rising mobile rhythm game Cytus. Cytus, developed by Rayark, is played by hitting static notes in time with a moving time line, similar to DJMax Technika. The song is a band song with male vocals, and makes for a fairly typical 7*, nothing too difficult. But what's this, there's an Ura?

...and it's a first in this feature corner: it's a 2P chart! There are two variations of this Ura chart, one for Player 1 and one for Player 2, with the charts complimenting each other. It's not that much more difficult than the ordinary Oni, though, and is quite manageable if you can clear the normal Oni.

From crystalsuicune, bemani gets another representative. Hailing from the Reflec Beat series, VALANGA is Yoshihiro Takagawa (alias DJ TOTTO)'s debut song into bemani. As to the name, 'Valanga' is actually Italian for 'avalanche'.

With a high BPM of 186, the song allows for fast and complicated streams to match the frantic 'avalanche' the song is trying to convey, settling it nicely at 9*.

More bemani! From Lokamp, we have yet another debut song: Snowfield Express is TIME CAPSULE Lab.'s first foray into bemani, this time appearing first on pop'n music Sunny Park. It's also another high BPM song at 188, with fast and sometimes complicated streams.

And finally, from AxelHino, a song from the familar iDOLM@STER series, which is very much represented in Taiko no Tatsujin. This one, though, hasn't been in any official Namco release yet: Aoi Tori, which is idol Chihaya Kisaragi's image song. A slow BPM prevents the chart from getting too difficult, leaving it at a simple 5*.

Made By You: SHADE and more

We're back with another Made By You feature, with 3 songs from various rhythm games! As always, keep sending in those fanmade charts!

Above is our first feature of this weekend, and it's unique in that it's actually made from 3 different variations of a single song stringed together! SHADE is composed and arranged by DJ MURASAME vs dj Killer, both aliases of the many-monikered Tatsuya Shimizu/Tatsh. It serves as the Extra Stage song for beatmania IIDX 19 Lincle, and has a different variation on each of its 3 difficulties. When played back to back, the 3 difficulties actually make a complete mix, and it is this 6 minute mix that has been mapped above.

With a unique gimmick of being a 3-part song, it only follows to have this map be mapped by 3 different people; this map is a collaboration by AxelHino, crystalsuicune and Kaiya, each having taken a segment. The result is 6 minutes of clusters ranging from the simple to the complicated, making for a practice in perseverance. Can you finish without any mistakes?

Another long mix of a bemani song! Bahram Attack -Nekomata Master Remix- was originally from beatmania IIDX 16 Empress, itself a remix of "Bahram Battleship" from fellow Konami videogame, ZONE OF THE ENDERS THE 2nd RUNNER, a mech combat game. There are actually two variations of this long mix, each with slightly different intros: the one you see above, from Nekomata Master's album "Backdrops"; and the other from L.E.D.'s album "Denjin K" (which you can see here.

Mapped by dialgadu77, it has a respectable speed and a strong backbeat, making for a difficult 9* map, with plenty of tricky clusters.

Incidentally, it's Easter Sunday today, and what better way to wrap up this feature with a celebratory classic song? Get Up! by BanYa originates from the arcade dance game Pump It Up Exceed, well-known for being one of Dance Dance Revolution's main competitors alongside In the Groove. Being a band remix of Beethoven's Ode to Joy, it has frantic drumming and a wailing guitar to put a new spin on the classic song.

Mapped by CoroQuetz, the map has a frantic chart to match and its speed contributes greatly to its difficulty. A lack of complex clusters keeps it from becoming overly difficult, settling it at 8*.

Made By You: Joubutsu 2012 and more

For this round we have mostly Taikojiro charts, in contrast to the previous edition which was made up mostly of osu!Taiko.

Before we begin though, a shout out to tetsutaro (one of our charters) for participating in Project 4 Awesome, a two-day Youtube event to celebrate charities and NGOs. He will be making Taiko charts for a charitable cause! We'll see some of them soon. But anyway, back to work!

Made By You: Chiri Chiri Juso and more

It's been a long time, hasn't it? I've taken a long break from this feature due to real-life commitments, and I'll just try to get a short one up for today.

Made By You: Special Packer Feature 2

Our anniversary feature is right around the corner (end of this week!) but before that, Packer Woo showered us with a whole pile of new songs and Taikojiro charts so let's get to them all first! (he will still be in the anniversary special, don't worry!)

Monday, August 5, 2013

Made By You: SigSig and more

And here comes another edition of Made By You as we begin the month of August! There should probably be one more towards the end of the month to celebrate the Taiko Time 3rd anniversary proper, but for now these charts are submitted on July.

Made By You: Special Packer Feature II

Allowing good music to accumulate without featuring them is bad practice, and Packer suddenly turned up with tons of new compositions and accompanying charts so it's time for another Packer special!

Made by You: Can't Hug Every Cat and more

(this was supposed to be up for Sunday but circumstances prevented me from publishing it so I'm doing it now!)

What is this song? Is it even a song...? Read more about it after the jump, and a few other excellent creations too!

Made by You: Oodain and more

And here we go, for our usual round of custom Taikojiro and osu!Taiko charts made by you (and maybe me), to help us tide the drought of Taiko-related news before the summer comes (high expectations for a console Taiko announcement there, but it's just my guess).

Made by You: Surgam Identidem and more

Another round of your custom-made Taiko charts, this time with a well balanced mix from four different people!
