Made By You: SigSig and more

And here comes another edition of Made By You as we begin the month of August! There should probably be one more towards the end of the month to celebrate the Taiko Time 3rd anniversary proper, but for now these charts are submitted on July.

The song directly above me is a familiar one to Bemani heads, once again by kors k (Kosuke Saito). I might go so far as to call this one of his most iconic songs; SigSig, originally from Beatmania IIDX 12 Happy Sky, is a fast-paced cute makina song (Makina is a subgroup of techno) that has since permeated nearly all Bemani rhythm games, being included in Dance Dance Revolution, Pop'n Music, Reflec Beat and Jubeat as well. The song is represented by three girls as its mascots, and the aim was to create a tune which appealed to female beatgame players. SigSig enjoyed a short tenure as a meme on Youtube as well.

AxelHino is responsible for porting SigSig to osu!Taiko, and although it might look predictable and basic in the beginning, don't underestimate the chart; we've learned many times before that basic patterns coupled with high BPM and no rest can lead to faults! There's quite a few good streams in there too.

This next one is from Yusri Khairi's giant assortment of new Taikojiro charts, which are even divided into seasons of their own! (you can check out his Youtube channel; subscribe to it to see more!) This is just one of the 19 charts he informed us about on our Facebook page, and it's another full version of an anime song which is already in Taiko no Tatsujin. This is Hacking to the Gate, the opening theme of highly acclaimed anime series Steins;Gate. Since there is an official TV sized version on Taiko 0, we will not delve into the details of the anime until we are ready to cover it in our Song of the Week section, so stay tuned for that!

In the meantime, you can still play this, as Hacking to the Gate has not been seen on any console Taiko before (though put on the cutting-room floor for Taiko PSP DX). This is a pretty mild 7* Oni, easy to follow and fun to play, especially if you loved the anime series.

Third chart is another Youtube trending video made by tetsutaro, this time from hilarious series Your Grammar Sucks, which collects various embarrassing spelling (genuine spelling mistakes, not typos) and grammar errors from around the Internet to be displayed and sung out. Indeed, there is much to be done to improve the standard of written English online, but that doesn't mean we can't all have a laugh at it!

The chart wasn't made to be a challenge, and only a Muzukashii chart was made for osu!Taiko. You would probably be spending more time listening to the Christmas-related language slip-ups throughout the song!

We started with Bemani, and we're ending with Bemani, with this osu!Taiko chart by crystalsuicune, using the song Red by Full Metal Jacket, one of the hardest songs on Beatmania IIDX 17 SIRIUS. The composer name is a mouthful (DJ Mass MAD Izm*) and to top it off, is an alias which no one knows the real face to (like Taiko's somewhat mysterious Zeami).

Though fast, the sadistic note patterns from the source game don't translate over into Taiko according to crystal, and what we have is a quick 8* Oni with loads of clusters.
