Made By You: Joubutsu 2012 and more
For this round we have mostly Taikojiro charts, in contrast to the previous edition which was made up mostly of osu!Taiko.
Before we begin though, a shout out to tetsutaro (one of our charters) for participating in Project 4 Awesome, a two-day Youtube event to celebrate charities and NGOs. He will be making Taiko charts for a charitable cause! We'll see some of them soon. But anyway, back to work!
Yusri Khairi mapped another whole slew of Jiro charts and we're seeing two of them today, the first one is above and it's a different take on the most brutal 2000 song ever made, Joubutsu. When I say 'different', this time I don't mean harder. Just watch the video! It's the same song, but the notes are made up of pieces of notecharts taken directly from some 2000 songs. Saitama in the beginning, Koibumi after that, then Taberuna....it's a chart medley! The slowdown part remains the same, however.
It's obviously not as difficult as the original Joubutsu chart, but it is definitely worth checking out.
Second chart by Yusri Khairi, from a different 'season' of his charts! You have probably heard this song one too many times, popularized by the Nyan Cat website; but few people know the origins of the song. The original title is simply 'Nyanyanyanyanyanyanya!' and the lyrics is just as the title suggests; it is only made up of cat meows, and sung by Hatsune Miku. The original composer is daniwellP, who is well-known for making Vocaloid songs with repetitive lyrics strung into a melody. The song we know as the 'Nyan Cat Song' isn't even Miku; it was done with an UTAUloid (basically a homebrew version of Vocaloid).
Although the Nyan Cat Song can run for as long as your ears can take it, the original is just over a minute long, and is the one used in this chart, a fast-paced 9* with many streams appropriately placed on the vocals. They fit naturally too.
This next one is more of a skin feature, but it's also for a new chart, by Lee Jia Yi. He's probably the biggest fan of Madoka Magica on the site, and we've seen several Jiro charts by him for the songs of this series, including Luminous (Magibeat Remix) and Prex ~Materia Kyokokensis~. Now it's a new song called Colorful (Magibeat Remix), but first I'd like to focus on the skin.
Anybody can make their own Jiro skin, but it takes a lot of effort; eight frames for each of the five dancers down below, and if you want to customize Don-chan and the notes, you can too! This is a full skin featuring all the girls (and Kyubey as Don-chan) and the notes are red and blue based on the base colors of two of the girls (Kyoko for red, Sayaka for blue). It gets a bit distracting when the screen is filled with notes, but it's all just done for fun anyway!
Now the song itself! Colorful is the opening song for the 3rd and final Madoka Magica movie, which is a completely different story after the events of the 12-episode anime series. Like Luminous before it, this isn't the original song but a remixed version by xxonitanxx, called the Magibeat Remix, which makes it faster and more hardcore sounding.
'Faster' is significant here; there are several areas in the chart where scroll speed is increased and decreased (think Hurtling boys), and the long streams in the song are not easy to get used to, even more so if you decide to use the custom skin! Think of it as an extra layer of challenge.
Both the skin and the chart can be downloaded over at the video description in Youtube. Go grab em!
