Taiko Time 15th Anniversary Quiz!

It's been quite some time since we post right on time for the blog's anniversary, but...

Taiko Time turns 15 today! (2025/07/31)

Like many of our anniversaries in the past, we have prepared the Anniversary Quiz to test your knowledge on the Taiko no Tatsujin series, hosted exclusively on Google Forms this year:

The quiz contains 15 four-option multiple-choice questions. After submitting your answers, Google Forms will calculate your total score (out of 15). You can also check our explanation on the questions you got right, but not the ones you got wrong. You can try as many times as you want.

Feel free to share your scores with others, but for the sake of other participants, please do not share the exact answers with anyone else until after we release our answer key in late-November 2025.

Taiko Time 13th Anniversary Quiz: Better Late than Never!

Between two new Taiko no Tatsujin titles (RHYTHM CONNECT and mainland China 4th-gen. arcade) and real-life commitments, our celebration for the blog's 13th Anniversary (2023/07/31) has been postponed for one month. But hey, better late than never!

Here is the schedule of how the quiz will be held this year:
  • 2023/09/03 onwards - Polls for each individual question posted on X (previously Twitter) @taikotimeblog on Sundays and Wednesdays. The first poll has been embedded at the end of this post.
  • mid-September 2023 - Full quiz on Google Forms for you to check your score
  • late-November 2023 - Quiz answers on the blog
Even when Taiko no Tatsujin is going global faster than ever, here's to many more years of us continuing to bring Taiko no Tatsujin information to the world!

Taiko Time 11th Anniversary Quiz: The Questions

Thank you, dear readers, for following us for Taiko no Tatsujin news for another year!

This year we are keeping the celebrations simple with only the Anniversary Quiz. While we are still keeping the number of questions the same number as the anniversary (eleven this year), we are splitting some of the questions into parts to end up with twenty sub-questions, to coincide with the Taiko no Tatsujin series' 20th Anniversary.

There are two ways you can participate in this year's quiz:
  • You can vote in the four-way polls we are posting periodically for each (sub-)question on our Twitter handle @taikotimeblog within the coming few months.
  • You can also send us your full answers through Twitter direct message at any time before the last poll, and we will give you your score out of twenty. For the fairness of the upcoming polls, we are not going to specify which questions you got right or wrong.

Taiko Time 9th Anniversary Quiz: The Answers

Note: Three of the nine questions (1, 6 and 8) are written in the "pick the odd (something) out" format, but without specific pointers on what the common points are. Response has revealed that choices outside of the originally intended answer can also work under suitable justification, so their answers provided below are for reference only.

Taiko Time 9th Anniversary Quiz: The Questions and Side Tournament

What would a Taiko Time Anniversary be without its Anniversary Quiz extravaganza (except the 5th Anniversary)? Here comes the 2019 edition!

To open, we are aware that the participation for the last three quizzes has been... faltering. This year we are changing the format up and tuning down the stakes, making this a fun-for-all activity instead of the ultimate battle of the wits.

There are nine questions in this year's quiz. All question except Question 9 are four-option multiple choice questions. Instead of having to submit your own individual full answer like before, we ask you to answer in Twitter polls to be posted one by one across the coming weeks. Feel free to participate in one or multiple of these polls, and see how well you stack up in Taiko trivia compared with the whole community.

Question 9 is the only open-ended question in this quiz, and also where we are holding a side tournament. See that question for full details on how to submit your results.

The answers to the quiz and the results of the tournament will be released on October 9. Good luck to all.

Site Announcement: Taiko Time 9th Anniversary!

It's still August! Still on time for the Taiko Time 9th Anniversary celebration! Real world obligations! You know that from last few years already!

It is during this past year that Taiko no Tatsujin is back into the global spotlight outside of just Japan, Asian arcade goers and foreign importers, thanks to the double whammy of PS4 Session de Dodon ga Don and Nintendo Switch Version both getting their worldwide versions. No matter since whenever you decided to join our little voyage, thank you for sticking with us for your English-translated Taiko no Tatsujin information.

This year we have the staple Anniversary Quiz plus a little side tournament (last done in 6th Anniversary), but with quite a twist in the format compared with past years. I guess I'll let the event post do the talking in further detail then, coming September 1.

Taiko Time 8th Anniversary Quiz: The Questions

Welcome back to the Anniversary Quiz for the seventh time! We have once again painstakingly came up with eight questions to test your Taiko no Tatsujin knowledge. Are you up to the challenge?

Yeah, we know for the last few years not many people actually enter the quiz, but if you want to enter, please send your answers together with your nickname to be displayed via one of the following methods by the deadline of September 6 2018:
The answers and results will be announced on September 13 2018. This year we'll be trying to get the highest scoring participant a special dedication on this blog like a special feature post, so do also leave your choice in the submission (within reason, that is; if you won but your idea turns out to be too unrealistic to pull off, we'll discuss other options with you).

Site Announcement: Taiko Time 8th Anniversary!

Aaaaaaand it's the 8th Anniversary for the Taiko Time blog!

The last two years wasn't the best in terms of our anniversary celebrations, thanks to real-life commitments and stuff. This year we have been working way in advance to plan out the itinerary so at least we won't be overly lacking on ideas and have more time to organize the posts. Not that we could guarantee it would turn out great.

For this year, we are once again back with the traditional Anniversary Quiz, a typical Title Fix feature chronicling the eternal struggles with correct song titles and one Feature Post to clear up a not-uncommon misconception newcomers have for Taiko. We are also looking to revamp the TaikOp-ed format to engage more with readers, so we're doing one on a lighthearted poll and one on a more serious topic. Here are the current schedule for the Anniversary features:
  • August 6 - Lyrics Feature: ?????
  • August 9 - 8th Anniversary Quiz Questions
  • August 15 - TaikOp-ed: ?????
  • August 20 - Feature: ?????
  • August 23 - Title Fix: 8th Anniversary Special
  • August 27 - Lyrics Feature: ?????
  • August 30 - TaikOp-ed: ?????
  • September 13 - 8th Anniversary Quiz Answers and Results
Thanks again for sticking with us for so many years!

Celebrating YOU for the Taiko Time 7th Anniversary

Our Anniversary celebration could not have been complete without a showcase for the loyal readers we have, and this is for you guys!

Again, we are only three guys trying our best to bring you Taiko no Tatsujin scoop outside the mostly Japanese-exclusivity (not completely as of recently, gratefully), and we wouldn't have stayed for 7 years without your continued support, and even the occasional tip-off to stuff we ourselves missed.

As a collective gratitude, here is us dedicating one whole post on the hidden talents among yourselves!

Site Announcement: Taiko Time 7th Anniversary!

This year we're just slapping actual Taiko sprites together for the anniversary logo :P

7th Anniversary for the Taiko Time blog! Woohoo!

Despite our real-life commitments getting in our way from time to time, we are glad that we have kept on this pro bono endeavor in bringing Taiko no Tatsujin resource into English-speaking circles. We may reiterate this every year, but it is true that we thank all of your support, as long-time readers or occasional drop-ins alike.

But to be frank, outside of the routine Anniversary Quiz and some on-occasion housekeeping (we have one Title Fix post planned), we really don't have much idea for what else to do this year. Do you have burning questions to ask us in another Staff Interview? Do you have interesting custom made notecharts you want us to showcase in a revival of Made By You? Do you <insert your own suggestion maybe>? Tell us so that we can plan for it down the road.

Site Announcement: Taiko Time 6th Anniversary!

Over 6 years have passed since aquabluu/pikaby organizing the very first Taiko game songlist and yes, we're still going strong! As per tradition for us, we would like to thank our readers for their support to our blog through a handful of events and tweaks that we hope will make your browsing experience a more pleasant one.

Starting from the returning events, we'll have very soon the return of the Taiko Time Anniversary Quiz to once again test your knowledge of the franchise! Also to get everyone to actually play some Taiko, for the sixth year let's test out an format with a pilot Taiko Time Anniversary Tournament! Send us your submissions to either of the events in order to have a commemorative item from us for our 6th anniversary celebration. We're also having a brand new Feature article about Taiko console gaming as a whole!

Finally, we're going to add to our Others section the links to all our past Feature and Sympho-Neighbours articles for posteriority's sake, starting from our next Feature's posting date! During this transition, one of the former SN releases -namely the one titled 'Summer Scars'- will be re-branded to Sonority Scouts due to its more-contemporary nature rather than acting as an "historical archive" post.

Thanks again for your support, and keep on drummin'!

Namco Taiko Blog 2 - June's SECOND Taiko Livestream

Short things short, today's surprise second blog update proves us wrong on an assumption we made about tomorrow's stream. As Etou speaks up, it turns out that the Synchronica/Taiko stream is not supposed to be the delayed stream of May '15! That one is also coming this very month...

That's right: two livestreams on this June! The now re-scheduled May livestream is planned to air on Nicovideo on June 26th, from 7 pm for about 3 hours, for an extended look at the Taiko Team's plans for Taiko no Tatsujin's 15th Anniversary event. There's nothing more to say as details have to be decided yet, but it's quite expectable: we are going to see the very same team tomorrow!
