Another "forever-gone" kind of feature for today, this time focused on something bound outside the game centers. Who would have thought the Taiko no Tatsujin series also had ties with the football gaming sphere, across the years!?

Next month's Music Pass update -the last one prior to the game's upcoming multiplatform release- brings up a few brand-new licensed picks as well as more appreciation for the Vocaloid fans, getting one new Hatsune Miku tune next week as well as a surprise Ura debut that got released alongside the latest batch of song removals. Particularly interesting are also the returning Classic and Namco Original ports from the more-recent RHYTHM CONNECT updates since, you know, that ship is about to sink soon...

Another downloadable music pack also shows up its face in the SPY×FAMILY pack, grouping each of the currently-released tracks from the popular show minus Mixed Nuts, considering how that song is already available as standalone DLC for Switch players (not to mention it's also becoming a default addition for the aforementioned PC/console ports coming out in two months).

Song of the Week! 21 September 2024

 

With the start of another Fall season, it might be the right time to talk about fallen songs once more... it's been a while since our last one, isn't it?

Namco Taiko Blog (September 17-18th, 2024) - Sep'24 Livestream Recap + AC October Farewell

A quick one for this week's official blog entries, one concerning last Sunday's livestream (which we've already covered here) and another for one Pops song leaving all Nijiiro cabs next month.

About the former blog entry, however, there's a point we forgot to report on a timely manner: with the World Championship 2024 leaving strong memories for all participants, the people at the helm wanted to make it extra memorable by taking one of the songs that were adopted and have an Ura Oni setting added for the Tatsujin rank! Said mystery Ura will also be released tomorrow (Sept. 21st) in the main songlist, alongside the final Y5 Ranking Dojo and Rewards Shop seasonal update.

Feature: Character Relation Chart Remastered

 Longtime readers of the blog will remember an obscure piece of Taiko lore that is the character relation chart, which features bits of backstory of how Don-chan and Kat-chan came to be and all the characters they come into contact with in and out of festivals. The chart seems to be made around 2008 (or earlier) so it's by no means anywhere near an exhaustive list of characters that show up in Taiko today, but everything in this chart are still mainstay characters.

However, sometime in the past few years, Namco has retired the whole domain (making a more modern site for Taiko as a whole), bringing down every single piece of material with it. Not a great situation for our blog, which has direct links to the official site for many of their images and documents, desktop wallpapers and other things. Even the original translated chart I made is gone due to it being hosted on a now-inactive Photobucket account! It was on a very low resolution anyway and not very readable.

Thanks to a few readers and the Internet Wayback Machine, a few things could be recovered from the old website, including the character relation chart PDF. I have set about to re-translate everything in it and host the high-quality image on the blog itself, as you see now above you on this post, to ensure it sticks around this time for the foreseeable future. Some additional details have been added that wasn't in the original translation too.
