aosagi (Aosagi no Hi)
The voyage of the nicknamed BlackY across this drumming franchise's many entries is a rather unique one: rejected thrice as a CreoFUGA contestant more than 10 years later, then opening 2019 with a commissioned Namco Original on his own, then becoming a twice-in-a-row Nijiiro-era contest winner thanks with vocal-powered tunes starring Riza Yuzuki... then a solo commissioned artist again, aiding the ongoing cause of Donderful/Rhythm Festival's Taiko Music Pass!
By the words of the same BlackY over a previous X post, Aosagi no Hi (lit. 'Blue Heron's Fire') is presented as directly as it gets: a straightforward, Japanese-styled music game song, perhaps coming full circle with the formerly-proposed Japanesque pieces of his own for the aforementioned CF contests, more than 10 years ago. Being the avid Taiko player that he is (with documented collection evidence from earlier this year, too!), BlackY has also paraded on SNS (link) as one of the many players of his own song to Full Combo both of its Oni settings on release day. Music-game tune creators playing their craft once it's publicly available is becoming more and more common in Japan, but superb accuracy plays on Day 1 is still something you don't see every day!
Straightforward as the author's launch descriotion of the song, the hardest charts both follow different degrees of musica-notation charting, charing the same slight scrolling shifts mid-performance. The jump from regular Oni's more-recursive charting with simpler handswitching to the Ura Oni's 1/24 spike over-reliance and Kat predominance might make many to compare the jump from your average Gen2 deranked 10* Oni to arcade-exclusive difficult charting in the likes of Groove Coaster's Scarlet Lance!

We're done with this bit, but the fun doesn't stop there! The YMY RPG Song Series Showcase has been updated to the ongoing song grid standards, complete with updated trivia/rewriting of the earlier entries as well as the addition of Don-bardia no Odoriko from the soon-multiplatform Nintendo Switch game!
