Song of the Week! 3 August 2024

In this closing week, we caught notice on social media about another inhouse BNSI musician leaving Bandai Namco as a whole. At this point in time, we only got one of his songs left to talk about, so that's where we're heading on today!

FOCUS ON ver.

Publicly coming out about it yesterday on his own Twxtter social feed (link), composer Yusuke Yamauchi (山内祐介) -more commonly known by his mifumei (フメイ) alias- has revealed to have left Bandai Namco sometime last month in order to pursue an independent music-composing carreer, in the same vein as former colleagues like Taku Inoue from a few years back. Formerly also a Capcom composer whose works were also used for the long-dead Crossbeats music game series (Faraway and tΔyutΔi, among those), like the aforementioned Inoue he also served as a music director for the also-defunct Synchronica series for which he also composed some songs, including the also-on-Taiko Yurame and Synchronicity (Rezonate Remix), its very final song. We've seen mifumei's exploits on Taiko via the first Mirai Komachi anniversary song and a couple of Namco Originals, but as the latter of those has yet to be released for this year's Ranking Dojo upper-echelons, we're left for now with this here tune from Nijiro Version's freshman year!

Going by the English-translated title of "Leave It As It Is", this was one of three songs to be initially introduced as unlockable for the AI Battle Performance mode's debut, requiring 125 wins on that mode for Banapassport players to claim it. However, as it turned out, things got quite wonky at launch and several cases of early unlocks were achieved, leading to the affected songs to be publicly released a few weeks later with another Namco Original trio as new not-borked unlocks in their stead. Still, props to the documented 44 Donders who have managed to fulfill the 125-victories quota within the mode's release day! Figuring on the song's subtitle is only the guest singer Aizawa (Twxttxr), one without additional personal profiles/websites listing her carreer/works other than a YouTube playlist with her songs being linked on her aforementioned SNS profile, so... there you go! Earlier this year, we also got an alternate-vocals playable version of Isso Kono Mama De as part of the FOCUS ON Nijisanji collaboration with Taiko no Tatsujin, with the 2019-debuting Yamagami Karuta (山神カルタ; Twxttxr, YouTube) from the Orihimeboshi (織姫星) trio lending her voice to the cause.

Isso Kono Mama De's charter was revealed to be SueP, seeing how the song was one of three to appear in the notecharter-centric 'Challenge from SueP #1' (すえPからの挑戦状#1) Ranking Dojo Gaiden trial from 2 years back. It's a 1/16-leading challenge where Kat-based clusters of varying lengths and backbeat note couples are its main servings for quite the speedy contender across the 9* Oni spectrum as a whole. It was also the very first Nam-Combo notecount-bearing chart to debut on Nijiiro Version, just to underline how deep the Namco ties are with this one tune!
