Namco Taiko Blog (2021/06/24): Track List Stratified Once Again: Nijiiro June 2021 Update

Taiko no Tatsujin (March 2020/Nijiiro ver.) gets another version update on 2021/06/30 (no info on greater Asia), just one month after the previous. Outside of your normal slew of new track additions, it also brings back one beloved mechanic for the classic Performance Game mode.

Addendum (2021/06/30): Equivalent update for greater Asia confirmed for 2021/07/01, net of the three track additions but includes Select by Difficulty function (official Facebook).

Returning in Triumph: Select by Difficulty

Previously available in the 3rd-generation firmware (White onwards, except greater Asia), the Banapassport-exclusive "Select by Difficulty" (むずかしさからえらぶ) function is back on the Performance Game mode of the 4th-generation firmware in this update.

(NB. NOT available in the AI Battle Performance mode as of this update, but will be supported in the future)

 

Here's a short summary in case you don't know what this function entails: Banapassport users can filter the whole track list by the star rating of a designated difficulty, say "Oni ★8". This should help narrow the selection when you want to intensively train on a select difficulty range.

Of course, this function needs some upgrades suitable for the 4th-generation architecture:

Upgrade 1: Display Order

Further sort the resultant list by "Not cleared first" (未クリア優先), "Not Full Comboed first" (未フルコンボ優先) or "Not Donderful Comboed first" (未ドンダフルコンボ優先). Select in the Display Order (表示順) option when generating the filtered list.

Upgrade 2: By-rating Results Panel

As you filter by the ratings, the Overall Results Panel also changes to the By-rating Results Panel (むずかしさからえらぶ専用成績パネル) to show you the crown total for that rating.

Upgrade 3: Random Selection

Still too many tracks to choose from even after filtering by rating? The console-mainstay Random Selection (ランダムにえらぶ) helps relieve that frustration by randomly picking one track from the selected rating.

(NB. Donders are only allowed to use Random Selection once per track)

Upgrade 4: Donder Hiroba Convenience

Say you normally set the rating filter to "Oni ★6" to train intensively at that rating, but one time you changed the rating filter because you feel like trying an Oni ★7 once only. Normally, the server will remember the last rating filter selection and will show the "Oni ★7" filtered folder on your next credit, leaving you having to change the filter again.

The Donder Hiroba will gain new options for you to set a default rating filter, which overrides whatever one-off change you do to the rating filter on the cabinet. This saves you the trouble of having to change the filter on the cabinet every time.
