shizuk (Shizuku-chan)
By the power of song requests, we're back talking about the whimsical world of 1-time-only arcade songs, some of the most elusive pieces you get to hear in official Taiko gaming... Not even Taiko 11 mainlander models got to hear this one!
This song's name is also the name of TV Tokyo's Anime series that is based on the Shizuku-chan (しずくちゃん) illustration book series, boasting over 5 million voulme sales in its homeland. Penned by the nick-named Q-Lia and counting 33 different volumes to this day, the sereis is all about the magical whereabouts of Shizuku Forest and its youngest magical inhabitants, among which is the raindrop sprite Shizuku who chose his name after the forest upon which he was born. The 51-episode run that spun from October 2006 and September 2007 was followed by all sorts of accompaining media, including the sequel series Pururun! Shikuzu-chan Aha☆ in 2008, three videogames based on both series, a third season from Asahi Production in 2012-2013 (titled Picchipichi Shizuku-chan) and even an antropomorphic re-imagining of the original series in late 2019, under the name of Nijiiro Fairy Shizuku-chan. Curiously enough, the very first season was also localized in some countries for young foreigners' pleasure, most notably in Italy and South Korea!
The Pururun! Shikuzu-chan opening theme used for Shizuku-chan's first foray into animation is performed by D.D.S. and Masayo 'Sister MAYO' Sawada (沢田雅世), the latter being also known as the younger sister of Taiji Sawada of X-Japan fame. The other artists also happen to be Anime-scene regulars; we have, in fact, Morihiro Suzuki (鈴木盛広) as the composer (also for My Melody and Magic-Kyun!, among many), Seiichi Kyoda (京田誠一) as the arranger (alongside many others like Kinnikuman and Dragon Ball) and lyricist Yumi Yoshimoto (吉元由美) from Bikkuriman and Doraemon works, all three being artists with a shared contribution history on the always-populkar Super Sentai series, at some point in their carreer!
It's your average kid-tier Oni mode we're dealing here with one-color clusters and 1/16 to boot; do mind, however, the slower-paced beginning if you're just moving your first steps in Taiko gaming with this song... which, given how low-spread it is among official works, it's already quite the feat per-se!
