Taiko no Tatsujin: Don to Katsu no Jikuu Daibouken song list

Taiko no Tatsujin 3DS 2 box art

This is the second Taiko no Tatsujin game released on the Nintendo 3DS, on June 2014. Visually it looks identical to its predecessor, Chibi Dragon to Fushigi na Orb. The story mode uses the same 'save the world' template as most other stories used in the franchise, however one major difference in the gameplay in this rhythm-RPG story mode is the ability to customize a full party of monster helpers to fight for Don-chan, creating a lot of options for players.

Most other things are carried over from the first 3DS Taiko, such as the Stamp Album and single-cart 4-player games. The costumes are no longer single-part like in the first game, and go back to being 2-part like in the old DS games. However, colors are not fully customizable here, and Don-chan can only use preset color templates (which can be unlockable).

Another first for the 3DS line of Taiko games is implementation of the StreetPass mechanic, where communication occurs between two 3DSes when they pass by each other. You can trade high scores, story mode monsters, and show other players your costume and favorite song. Don to Katsu ni Jikuu Daibouken is also the first DS/3DS series Taiko game to feature paid downloadable songs, costumes and story mode scenarios, something that could not be done on the old system due to hardware limitations. The game also launched in both physical and a digital version to download on the eShop, -a portable first scenario on Nintendo grounds- which got removed (for purchase purposes only) on May 30th, 2017.

Songlist-wise, Don to Katsu no Jikuu Daibouken has a slightly more expansive default list than the first 3DS game, and is overall currently the largest among the DS/3DS line, but trails slightly behind Taiko Portable DX, which has the current largest song count in handheld Taiko.

A first for Taiko games on Nintedo systems, Don to Katsu no Jikuu Daibouken received a Korean localization on August 2015, featuring complete text translations to Korean with some songs re-spelling/direct English translation while still retaining the Japanese dubbing of the original title. The game's Korean version, however, lacks of the original version's DLC support, together with the disappearance of a trio of songs from the base songlist.
