Launch week comparison:
Taiko PSP DX: 80215 (5 days)
Taiko Wii 3: 29328 (4 days)
Taiko DS 3: 70000 (3 days)
Taiko Wii 2: 28282 (3 days)
Taiko DS 2: 55950 (4 days)

Average daily sales on launch week:
Taiko PSP DX: 16043/day
Taiko Wii 3: 7332/day
Taiko DS 3: 23333/day
Taiko Wii 2: 9427/day
Taiko DS 2: 13988/day

The verdict? For some reason handheld Taikos still always outsell their console big brothers, every single time :P

Taiko PSP DX landed second on launch, and the sales numbers are very impressive for its first week! Now if only I had some hardware numbers so I could do more number crunching.

EDIT: Hardware numbers not significant- Nintendo 3DS outsold PSP 2:1 due to the new Flame Red color for the console being released.

  1. You should consider how more popular DS and PSP is compared to the Wii, though.

  2. But Wii has the more epic songlist and it trails behind DS3 lolwut

    Japan loves portables :P

  3. Maybe there are further reasons for this portable success:

    1) Tons of preorder-only songs

    2) Almost everything unlocked at the start

    3) An Ura Oni for the most horrible 10* song I've ever seen from Taiko games's beginning. (C'mon! Everybody knows what is it xD)

  4. #2: I don't know about you, but I like uncovering secret songs instead of having next to no spoilers when I get the game orz
