dobhbs (Denonbu - Hyper Bass)

The first time around last year, the quirky flair behind why we've had our first Denonbu SotW feature was the fact of the song on the spotlight being the lone tune from the project to be featured in current-day Ranking Dojo Gaiden trial... and as it turns out, I can play the same card again today, considering how today's pick is the only Denonbu song starring across the Year-3 Nijiro main Ranking Dojo courses, as the 6-Dan's last song to face!

Hyper Bass is the first unit song from the unified Harajuku/Omotesando district's Jingumae Sandou High School, whose 3-girl unit consists of Minakami Hina (水上雛; CV: Omori Ishika 大森日雅), Sakurano Mimito (桜乃美々兎; CV: Kozakai Yurie 小坂井祐莉絵) and Inubousaki Shian (犬吠埼紫杏; CV: Hasegawa Rena 長谷川玲奈). One curious Taiko-themed trivia about this unit (partially, at least) is that some of its members have banded with Akina (秋奈) -voice actress of Kurogane Tama (黒鉄たま) of Denonbu's Minato Shirokane Girls' High School- in order to compete in a March-2021-hosted Bandai Namco tournament event, filled with voice actors across all the currently-active Bandai Namco franchises. In the so-dubbed "Entertainment Sports Fest "Spring Festival with Everyone" event, not only the newly-founded "DEN-ON-BU T&C" (Tama&Harajuku) team did win the VA mini-tournament, but the runner-up was also a Denonbu team in DEN-ON-BU Akiba!

The author of Hyper Bass, prominently displayed as part of its title in Taiko, is the nicknamed Yunomi (Twxtter; SoundCloud), also known in music gaming for his contribution to CHUNITHM (Hachimitsu Adventure) as well as a handful of bemani franchises including Mitarashi Platonic, Indoor-Keinara Trackmaker and Hinabitter♪ project song Himitsu Dial. Credited for producing music for minor idol circles like CY8ER and ハッピーくるくる (Happy Kuru Kuru), he launched the first independent label Miraicha Records with the also-commissioned-for-Denonbu-songs YUC'e and in 2019 he himself became an affiliated artist to the ASOBISYSTEM label.

Much like Hand Over, the other unit song in the "1st-batch" Denonbu collaborative delivery in Taiko, we're dealing with a 9-star Oni contender here, dealing a Kat-dominant chart in contract to the (still by a hair!) Don-dominant note-hitting action of the KFM chart set. with a dedicated segment for 1/12 charting and a few mono-color 1/24 note bursts, it's also a possible helping hand for those stepping towards the more technical side of modern Taiko charts to perform... provided you can handle its mid-high note density okay, at the same time!
