One day after the usually-appointed Thursday update days (...was it because they wanted to let me have a free day on my birthday yesterday?), the official Taiko no Tatsujin blog's first entry of 2024 is largely about the impending World Championship 2024, with a spoonful of other Nijiiro Version-flavored treads. Shall we dig in?
-) WCS 2024 Schedule Information Updates
The dedicated subsection on the Nijiro website about the much-ancitipated competition (see here) has just been updated, largely with a list of the participating stores for both the General and the Elementary-and-Younger pool. It's also mentioned how all Banapassport players can also earn an unspecified limited title by playing the four Store Qualification songs under the same time frame... and even those not competing at the tournament will be able to unlock it!
There's also some more poignant stuff that has been profiled on the same blog entry in greater detail, some of which warranting a paragraph of their own, no less:
- Due to the dire circumstances left by the Noto earthquake at the beginning of the year, the Area Qualifiers shops eligible from the Noto peninsula have been cancelled for the tournament means, bringing down the count of tourney-supporting prefectures/countries to 16. If the site will be able to host the phase by March 17th, it will be issued an update note concerning the situation, alongside whether it will revert this decision or not.
- A number of measures have been adopted in order to discourage players from one country to play in a foreign one's Store Qualification and Area Elimination phases. In a nutshell, players from a country can only apply to stores of their own country of residence for both phases and those who make out to the Area Elimination phase but move out to another place (always in the same country of the registered Store Qualification entry) will be locked to the Area Elimination store that is linked to the SQ center before moving out.
- As an addendum to the previous point, moving out to a different country after the Store Qualification phase pass won't allow the player to take part to the Area Elimination phase of either affected countries, resulting into a disqualification.
For broader Taiko no Tatsujin news talk, there's going to be a brand new livestream in about a month's worth of wait... Tune in this February 18th for a generus serving of anything Nijiiro-related that is being cooked up for the foreseeable future, including currently-undisclosed collaboration news!
As usual, there's also going to be an open poll for people to chime in with their own questions to be addressed in the "What's in the box?" segment. If you have one of your own concerning the arcade-only side of things, punch it in to this here Quesant poll between today and February 4th!
-) Nijiiro Version Farewell Songs - February 2024
The last remarks for this blog entry are about the next month's song removals, which -interestingly enough- have been leaked beforehand not in the usual Q&A subsection of the BanNam-operated website, but by the official FB page for the General Asia versions (credits to Discord user jC for the tip!). This, of course, will also affect all mainland/other foreign versions, when the day comes...
