jouzai (Ai to Jouzai no Mori)
Long before becoming the America-shaped political-sphere laughing stock for not-videogame-related events I'm refraining from penning in this place, the day of January 6th has been celebrated by the Christian belief for the longest time for the celebrated coming of the "Three Wise Man" known as the Magi, bringing to the newborn Jesus prized gifts in the means of gold, Frankincense and myrrh. Considering how no incense/scent-styled songs are across official Taiko media as of yet and how I usually use gold songs as Golden Week dragalong segways (like here and here), it feels like I can't link it to this here theme whatsoever, not to mention the only 'Magi'-related pick was already featured long ago! Bear in mind, however- myrrh is made of the resin coming out of tree, and you know which place has plenty of 'em? That's right- a forest... no matter if it's "of Love and Purification" like this one here from Taiko lore or not!
Just like how we closed 2023 with, here's another StudioGiW-talents-based song to open this new year! Ai to Jouzai no Mori made its debut as a downloadable song for the PS4's Session de Dodon ga Don, with major efforts from Hisui (翡翠) both as its composer and one of the supporting choral voices. Later on, it was revealed online how lyricist Yuko Ueda (上田ゆう子 ) from the may-on Japan agency was behind its lyrics, the second commissioned work for a Taiko song as officially listed on said company's website (link) after Ryuu to Kokuen no Himegimi. Thanks to the song's inclusion as part of the 8-fold TnT Clarice Disc albums from 2018, we know that Ai to Jouzai no Mori is actually sung by SIX more people, alongside Hisui: narrator/VA Asahi Morikawa (森川あさひ), the Hokkaido-based Asuka Tsukada (塚田明日加), Japanese VA for Namahage in modern Taiko games Yayoi Kano (叶弥生), the nicknamed taka-c from the VA-related talent agency Brush Up One (profile), Daiki 'moro' Moroka (諸岡大貴) (also from Brush Up One) and Takuya Kotegawa (小手川拓也), voicing none other than Tatsu-Don for the Nintendo Switch's Drum 'n' Fun!
Following the same trail as Jigoku no Daiou and VERTeX, this is one 1/16-based chart where chaining single note and clusters at a nrearing-average of 200 BPM is the norm to keep players' hands quite busy all throughout, despite the repeating stanzas and the refraining ending along the way. Some minor 1/12 spacing shifts are also to be expected, so that perfect-accuracy hunters' plate is sure to be on the risk of asking for seconds (retries), with a careless musical hearing!
