[NS2] - Introducing the Dondoko Fit mode

After the free mode update to Donderful/Rhythm Festival that has occurred this Summer, the year for the Nintendo Switch game is about to end in style with another one! At this point in time, only details pertaining the Japanese version's release are up, but that sure won't stop us from talking about it, now would it?

In lieu of Nintendo's fitness-related titles like Ring Fit Adventure and the many Fitness Boxing versions, even the Taiko series is about to jump into the fray with one to call its own! The Dondoko Fit (ドンドコフィット) mode will finally allow players to take matters in their hands... well, in this case, the JoyCon peripherals, to air-drum with Taiko like never before in a console title!

What this amount to is a side-mode in which solo players can take the twin controllers of the Nintendo Switch and use them as Taiko drumsticks to swing in the air and detect where the hits are landed in a more spacial-feedback-intuitive manner than only bachi-wielding for the ongoing arcade line may supply. Swing them low for Don hits and at the side for Kat notes, but the approaching notes have to be hit with either one specific hand or both for dual notes!

This 1-player mode only allows Kantan and Futsuu modes to be playable with adjustsments made to accomodate unique-hitting cues like the aforementioned dual notes (=Big notes in regular charts) and random flying animals to be drumrolled away. Thing is, however, that every single available song is going to be compatible with the Dondoko Fit mode, including the Taiko Music Pass tracks! The Nintendo Switch game's Party Mode website subsection already accomodates a quick summary of the coming-soon mode, slated for release on December 7th.

Although, that's only half of the story for today...

Shortly after the Dondoko Fit mode's release, a new complementary peripheral is going to be released in stores (the Japanese ones, at least)! These are the FitBachi (フィットバチ), a couple of plastic shells in which the two JoyCon controllers can be attached for a more immersive experience with the upcoming game mode.

Not only these come equipped with an inner-case sturdy marble to simulate the sound of a bachi hitting a drum's surface, but they both come with a couple of smaller weights (fashioned after the Taiko brothers' look, no less!) to better accomodate everyone's weight while holding the FitBachi.

The FitBachi will be available on stores from December 13th, with preorders already open (also on the JP Bandai Namco online store!) and its dedicated web subpage to complement the new mode's introduction. While first-run orders will also have the added perk of a unique stickers sheet, everyone purchasing those will receive a redemption code for some early-bird perks in Donderful/Rhythm Festival: the newly-made Dondoko Fit theme song Choshinsei Shoujo (超新星少女) and the Fit Bachi Style (フィットバチスタイル) outfit to go with it.
