Song of the Week! 13 April 2019

It's no secret that I've been... somewhat... more toxic about my opinions on Taiko-related songs under these lines, in these latest SotW features. In order to make it up for such times, here's a more wholesome and clean song to change the tides here.

 Doku L0CANdy♡ (毒LOCANdy♡) t+pazolite
Version
Allx3 (129)x4 (187)x6 (268)x9 (394)
 Taiko 0 R, Taiko PS4

What's more sterile and clean for that purpose than a talk about a song that's titled after poison?! Doku L0CANdy is the third Namco Original molded by the hands of Tomoyuki "t+pazolite" Hamada, crafter as the newcomer representative for the Taiko no Tatsujin series in the third edition of the yearly Tenkaichi Otogesai tournament. The instrumental piece's theme in its punny title is a poison-themed track where rock vibes dictate the whole show, thanks to the guitar play of the nicknamed Sassy. While this song has yet to venture in a music game series outside of Bandai Namco's, Doku L0CANdy has received from the same artist a 'tpz Despair Remix' arrangement, released in the Extended Play Album I WANNA WANNA WANNA REMIX!!! e.p. for the 95th edition of the Comiket (December 2018).

Despite this song was made for a gameplay-performance tournament, its Oni mode isn't one of the max-rating ones in the current meta, with a 1/16 notechart that falls more on the technical play side while flowing at an average BPM with no scrolling trickery to be spotted. It really can be compared to an easier take to Taiko Time (the Namco Original)'s Ura Oni notechart, offering a bit of (nearly) every kind of pattern trickery from the 10-star difficulty tier, from 1/24 quick beat couples to backbeat-with-quick-clusters sections and longer note sequences to tackle!
