Another future-sight feature! ... for yet another song I won't be particularly looking forward to. Oh, joy...

This rhythm game series doesn't have that much of a deep relation with song licensing from renowned freelance composers' BMS-borne creations as of yet, so much so that one might think of the acronym for "Begrudged Music Selection" due to the low number of related picks as of yet, and when these do happen...
...well, personal biases aside, Altale is quite the peculiar track to talk about, considering its own fortunate story in more mainstream music gaming, both for it and for its talented composer!
Altale's creator goes by the nickname of Sakuzyo (削除, lit. 'delete'), under which title he has been making music (even commissioned works!) since he was 14 years old. Born June 2nd, 1994, this artist has always had a knack for music gaming, with some of its earliest works making the cut into mobile games, working its way up to doujin circle notoriety (as a former Diverse System member) and "mainstream" arcade music games fame, both with pre-existing creations as well as commissioned original pieces. Sakuzyo's mark of passage novers almost a full ten of different gaming series, from the mobile-affine quintet ground -Zyon, Arcaea, the Cytus games and the aforementioned Deemo- to arcade realdom with Sega's maimai and CHUNITHM series, Capcom's extinct crossbeats REV. and Taito's Groove Coaster.
This piano-based track made its debut on G2R2014 "GO BACK 2 YOUR ROOTS", the 2014 edition of the Be-Music Source tournament series THE BMS OF FIGHTERS. From that very same tourney, this song topped the user popularity charts among all the other songs made for the event and as such, has been subject of different song versions and gaming ports. The first simultaneous launch was with Sega's CHUNITHM and Rayark's Deemo music series, as the song was shared in both series at the same time due to a collaborative effort from both parties. Years go by and Altale gets included into a couple of Bemani music series with SOUND VOLTEX and the also-piano-based Nostalgia, which features the piano-only arrangement of Altale that was made for the composer's 5th album release, 14 Scores. Another arrangement of the same song can also be found in the later-released Context album, now retooled as a chamber piece.
Flashforward of a few years and Altale manages to become the third BMS song in Taiko series history, geared with an Oni notechart that dabbles on both 1/12 and 1/16 patterns. The more commonplace base BPM of 90 is doubled for the more lively song portions, ultimately reading to an 8-star difficulty rating for the small note cluster variety being showcased in between.

...Truth be told, I'd have never expected for such a song to warrant an official Taiko notechart that is more difficult than a 7-stars rating (let alone an 8), so you can easily imagine my amusement when I found out to be wrong not once... but twice, thanks to this Ura Oni setting!
Altale's notechart approach from the regular Oni mode has received an enhancement with the inclusion of 1/24 quick clusters intertwining the already-rhythm-changeling note pattern sequences, wrapped up with an exceedingly-difficult portion in the middle a-la No Way Back Ura to fend off most Full Combo attempts with quite the relentless deathstream for the genre in modern times.
