Namco Taiko Blog (19 December 2013) - Taiko Team's 8th stream recap + Part 2 footage

With no major surprise, Taiko Team's second-to-last 2013 blog entry is about last week's UStream/Nicovideo stream, summing up all the new features that have been announced. And while we're on it, we're also taking some space in this blog post for a short coverage of Nicovideo's night-long segment of the 8th Taiko Team live stream, with pictures no less!

Starting from the blog entry, it simply reiterates what was being discussed on this blog some weeks ago, from the Momoiro Version collabs to the Rewards Shop promotions and future purchasable items. The only thing is an interpretation mistake I made in the past Part 1 UStream recap about the new title system.

Remember that live poll held for Nicovideo users? Well, that one wasn't for the election of a new song at all! The Taiko Team asked for title suggestions which will be implemented in the future with the new 3-part title system, gathering opinions about the title parts the viewers wanted to see in the future. The winning title parts are five, all referencing popular sont titles and memes in Taiko ground: 'Eringi' (エリンギ), 'Dakkyu' (脱臼), 'Tatsu-don' (立つドン), 'Tsundere' (ツンデレ) and 'no Mai'(ノ舞).

These title parts will be introduced in a firmware update for Momoiro next year, together with a few songs. Remember the Touhou songs from the Super NicoNico Conference 2? Yes, they're finally coming!

Night of Knights and Bad Apple!! feat. nomico will join the Variety genre, not the Game Music genre as we saw the last time. That's not all though; the results of a Namco Original revival poll is also manifesting itself on this firmware update. Expect to see Kimi no Akari and Yumeiro Coaster on Momoiro very soon!

As we stated before, next week's Taiko Team blog entry is the last one for this year.

-----------------------------

Now that we settled down the so-needed errata corrige from this week's blog entry, we can delve a little bit into the second part of Taiko Team's longest live stream through a series of fancy pictures, also adding some funny facts concerning about the 1st part I forgot to report properly the last time. If you missed Part 1's recap, click here for a fast reminder!

Before beginning, the Taiko Team snapped a clear shot of the birthday cake made for Masubuchi (the picture up on top), whose birthday happened to be Sorairo Version's release day! This was supposed to be appearing in Part 1's recap, but I forgot to snap it. It's nice to be indirectly helped by someone else!

...anyways, the majority of the night-long segment of the streaming -as anticipated- revolved around the Taiko Team's memories about Sorairo Version's running period, starting from its very first reveal at the 2013 edition of JAEPO. For the occasion, Masubuchi snapped some photos of the event, which were showed to the stream's viewers:

Even Etou had his own digital album of photos from that day to share with the viewers, including town shots and... what he ate that day. Bizarre choice, but okay!

Now, I think it's time to talk about a side aspect which occurred during both parts of this stream. Due to the extremely long running time of the event, the guys played the Taiko soundtracks as a cute ear-candy for the viewers, featuring the Taiko 2008 soundtrack, the 10th Taiko Anniversary CDs and even part of the Tobikkiri! Anime Special one (except for the few Anime licenses in there).

I'm bringing this fact up because the Taiko Team also decided to cram in the fabled Sorairo Version Premium Soundtrack, which allowed us to list most of their tracks in order through a blog post some days ago (link), which is now accessible through our blog's Others section together with the rest of the CDs.

According to the image below -snapped from Part 1 of the stream-, the CD will have 26 tracks, with 23 of these being played in the supposed order of the final CD that will be awarded to 100 lucky Donder Hiroba users next January. When we know more about the remaining tracks, we'll update its tracklist page, don't worry!

During the stream, our three main hosts were interrupted by a short cameo. Composer Go Shiina, who recently remixed the God Eater 2 track called Wings of Tomorrow for Taiko Momoiro, briefly appeared to express his gratitude at seeing another of his songs making into this drumming rhythm game franchise.

Going veeeery late in the stream's running time, Etou and pals supplied the final graphs about the Banapassort players's performances with Sorairo Version's Dojo Ranking trials. Thanks to today's blog entry, we have clear pictures about those graphs! Put your worries to rest though, as the final trial still proved to be hard to master for almost everyone.

The pie chart above shows the pass percentage for each trial. As usual, the hardest challenges have the smallest pass ratio...

This bar chart shows instead the players's individual performances on each trial, separating the performances into Fail (blue bar), Pass (red bar) and Gold Pass (green bar) and now even indicating the total number of plays for each trial and for each final result.

This image instead shows some statistics about 10-Dan, such as the people who managed to clear/fail the trial first and its final song (Joubutsu 2000) and all the guys who overall cleared it throughout Sorairo's life span. There's even someone from Sorairo's developement staff in this list!

After this, yeah... there's nothing much relevant to say for this long section. Most of Part 2's running time consisted of our three Taiko hosts taking turns at the PC and answering to the Nicovideo and Twitter followers's comments and questions about Taiko and gibberish stuff, when the others were busy eating or performing some funny shenanigans. Like playing with the studio's lights!

Or even making silly mini-polls on Nicovideo, such as...

In one of the stream's final hours, one of Etou's host collaborators was asked to play something on Taiko in order to pass the time.

Now, before scrolling down this page, try taking a guess about what was played. A wild guess about the tune he has chosen to play after a really long night of stream broadcast on the Internet...

... going warmer...

...almost there...

...yup. Kinda strange to be told a joke from the same group of guys twice in different ways, isn't it?

Anyway, that's really all for the Taiko Team's 8th live stream. Unlike the previous part, re-runs of this fragment are available online only at Nicovideo for premium users (link) until January 10th, 2014.
