Song of the Week! 24 July 2021

July 2021's Ura pick also happens to be the only one of the 2020 Faith Creation contest winners that doesn't have a title unlock for the regular Oni chart on Nijiiro arcades... Which one is it?

Namco Taiko Blog (July 16th, 2021) - Taiko de Time Travel pt.5: 80's City Pop

After an addition that is way too late (4+1 no Sorezore no Mirai, May 27) and one that is way too early (Hold me tight, June 5), the "Taiko de Time Travel" entry for July 2021 is back to a more commonplace schedule.

Also right on time is the promised artist interview piece, featured in the official series blog as per the past (and future!) Taiko de Time Travel song reveals.

Twitter Snippets (July 16th, 2021) - Girls Are Performing, Please Wait Warmly

For a few years by now, we got used to welcome a handful of Touhou Project music arrangements into the Taiko family around Summer's end. This year's no exception, but it looks like that for 2021 we're not going to have some more ancient meme picks!

The mobile gacha music fangame Touhou Danmaku Kagura (東方ダンマクカグラ) is about to go live on August, with plans of sharing some of its original arranges to the greater arcade rhythm gaming sphere with time! The first servings are for Bandai Namco's Taiko no Tatsujin and a couple of Taito games: the currently-ongoing Groove Coaster 4MAX Diamond Galaxy and the Taito-crafted Touhou fangame Touhou Spell Bubble. Expect to see these two songs appearing in all three places sometime in August, with more to follow for other arcade music game mainstays in the coming months!

NOTE: Temporary title/subtitle listing displayed below, while we wait for the official layout from official Bandai Namco sources.

Song of the Week! 10 July 2021

Now that we're done prancing through the first "Taiko no Tatsujin Direct Mini" of sorts, here's a song that is sure to be going hand-to-hand with the main subject being tackled in there!

Livestream Recap: July 10 Taiko no Tatsujin Official Livestream

As the title suggests, Taiko no Tatsujin 20th Anniversary Commemoration! Announcing Long-awaited Info on Official MyBachi with a Bam!! Livestream (太鼓の達人20周年記念!気になる公式マイバチ情報をドーンと大発表!!生放送) mainly concerns the upcoming merchandise, but the last third also gives us a bit of musicality.

The 2021 line of the Official MyBachi boasts the official seal of approval from the Taiko no Tatsujin brand, compliance with Japan's prevailing product safety protocols, and high quality from the hands of expert crafters from Japan. This release comes in three types: Aka (朱)Ao (蒼) and Yamabuki (山吹), each having subtler attribute differences outside of just the color of the grip tapes:

(NB. English translation is added by us and not available on the official site)

An album of photos showcasing the three types and the intricate crafting process can be found on the new official site for the line at https://taiko.namco-ch.net/taiko/mybachi/.

Priced at 4980 yen (+tax), the Official MyBachis will be available starting July 21 2021 in Japan (through select stores and online preorders), and in mid-August 2021 for other locales.

Taiko Team/Bandai Namco is also expected to hold other outreach campaigns for the Official MyBachis. A Taster Event on July 25 2021 at Namco Umeda (Osaka, Japan) lets Donders try out each of the three types (and purchase if you are inclined). The Official MyBachi Supporter Recruitment exercise, on the other hand, will look for enthusiastic Donders to help spread the awareness on social media platforms. Stay tuned on the Official MyBachi official site for details on these campaigns.

And the last third of the stream moves onto updates for the "Taiko de Time Travel" commemorative music project, revealing the titles and small snippets of the four upcoming tracks coming to most current Taiko no Tatsujin games between July and October 2021:

As only a one-hour event, that is all that Etou and Kimizu/Number 11 is revealing today. Fret not though, as livestreams are expected to be more frequent in the near future; another one with more info on the proceedings of Donder! World Championship 2021 is already scheduled for August 7 2021.
