Song of the Week! 10 July 2021

Now that we're done prancing through the first "Taiko no Tatsujin Direct Mini" of sorts, here's a song that is sure to be going hand-to-hand with the main subject being tackled in there!

The bread-and-butter of every respectable arcade donder, the bachi sticks are a the trusty tools being used to perform real Taiko performances as well as the videogame-y one through many a shape across the ages, be it with the arcade-enclosed standaqrd models or ones either crafted or purchased for personal use, between hand-made and the official lines from Bandai Namco itself. We've had in plan to spotlight a Bachi-enhancd Namco Original for today, but considering how the only two songs with 'Bachi' in their name were already featured as SotW picks since forever ago, I hope a simple stick might just do the trick!

Hailing as one of the winners in 2020's Faith Creation song-making contest, this is a tune from the nicknamed MisomyL (みそみぃる; Twitter; SoundCloud), a 1999-born artist whose past has not been publicly unveiled by the artist as of now. What we do know, however, is the pre-existing footing on rhythm gaming, as part of the 2-man-unit MisoilePunch♪ (official YT channel) with recurring Taiko song contest winner Ponchi♪, spanning both contest and commissioned song slots no less! The MisoilePunch♪ unit is the most prolific in bemani's SOUND VOLTEX series with picks like SprrRush!! and the more recent boss song VVelcome!!, but the duo has left their mark in foreign arcade soil (AstrøNotes. from Ongeki) as well as mobile grounds with Deemo's Aya (彩), which also got a port into Cytus II from the same music-game-making company.

MisomyL alone has already been worthy of the contest-winning status in the past with what has become the artist's first adopted piece in the SDVX supscription-based PC version (Ring! Run! Nyan!!) and in the very same year, the Taiko hat trick has also been achieved! Winning the graces of contest judge steμ, the song was lauded for creating such a complicated rhythm that still conveys its creator's enthusiasm, actively willing to enteratin both this piece's listeners and its game-center chart performers. Stick Trick Show Time!! itself conveys more than its creator's energy alone- MisomyL's own voice can be heard plenty of times in this between the countdown, "Are you ready?" and multiple title drops, with the remaining audio cues being drawn from ricono's KAWAII VOICE KIT audio sampling package from 2019.

Even the most battle-tested technical chart player might just kneel for this Ura-less, top-starred contender and its many many stunts at play that can make look your average 1/16 commonplace performance just a walk in the park... combine it with sudden scrolling bumps up to x1.5 and you'll be kept on your toes on top of your handswitch-alternating game!
