Today's songs on display are a couple of tunes that are bound to leave Nijiiro for good next month, and their officially-Taiko-playable status with that. Yet another memento of a Bandai Namco-pushed upbringing not being enough to shield some tunes from the perma-removal status...

161.43-169.79What we have here today are a couple of tracks from the 2023-originating PolaPoriPosuPo multimedia project, centered around two male-only fictional units and their members' struggle with change on many levels, further developed via dedicated voice dramas and companion material over the course of these three past years. A couple of tracks once touted to be playable mere days since their digital debut that are now on the chopping block... I guess after shelving music from the Tales series, nothing is sacred at this point, is it?
Once again (and as also stated by the multimedia project's official website), the concept about the PolaPoriPosuPo project is "Engaging with Change", be it for realizing and witnessing how you or others change and on how to find the resolve of bringing change by oneself, both on the will and on the set-in-motion steps. This is reflected in the project's setting by the eight male leads maturing from their -grade years' experiences as solo singers or former band affiliates (of the Anti Lycopene band) into finding their stride in their high school-and-beyond years as part of two separate units: the WAKAZO trio and the 5-member chirp×chirp unit, each with their own answerse to the change topic in musical form. For WAKAZO, we have three highschool friends performing rock pieces under the stage names of KYOSUK (CV: Shunsuke Takeuchi), SO (CV: Rikka) and AKARI (CV: Reiji Kawashima); for chirp×chirp, a 'cuter' view of the world is supplied by vocalists of a more varied age range: Chiaki (CV: Chiaki Kobayashi), Hina (CV: Nishiyama Kotaro), Itsuki (Kageyama Shien), Gekka (Fukagawa Kazumasa) and Romeo (CV: Komatsu Shohei).
The announcement of the two PolaPoriPosuPo songs' Taiko release via December 2023's livestream session actually predates the two tunes' digital release on YouTube, with Neon Sign getting posted on December 23rd and Richt (based on 'Licht', German word for "light") debuting on Christmas 2025, the same day both songs were released on Japanese Nijiiro Version cabs. Behind the two are also different songwriting artists from each other! Neon Sign was lyricized by Genki Mizuno (アベノブユキ) and composed -including guitar and keyboard playing- by Makoto Miyazaki (宮崎誠), already author of a few iDOLM@STER songs (of which SMILE!! and Smile Taisou were also made Taiko-playable), with Noboyuki Abe (アベノブユキ) on the bass, the nicknamed SASSY on the drums and Hideki Godera (小寺秀樹) from the VERYGOD unit tackling the overall recording. For Richt, instead, we got among others Kimiko (きみコ) from nano.RIPE as the lyricist and composition/guitar backing by Shuhei Mutsuki (睦月周平), whose Touken Ranbu opening theme Hanamaru Biyori was even playable in official Taiko games, at some point (see more here!). Bass and drums playing were respectively provided by Kei Nakamura (中村圭) and Leon Yuki (裕木レオン), with another member from VERYGOD -Yuji Nakamura (中村悠二)- handling the recording and mixing process.
On varying degrees, all three Oni charts on display for today share the same key traits: repeating stanza plays, backbeat-oriented drumming sections relying on 1/16 handswitching skills and losts (and I mean LOTS) of subtle BPM/scrolling changes along the play, almost one per each note stanza at that! Richt Ura is also especially nasty for stamina trainees, considering the only real part to have some in-song recuperation is by the long hitballoon at the very end.
