Ending the month of August for us is a rather unusual way to tie down BNSI/BNEI alumnis to a still-Bandai-Namco-related project, away from the games of the video kind and into the games of orange balls, hanging hoops and burning shoe soles...

Taiko no Tatsujin Donderful Festival early September 2025 Taiko Music Pass and DLC Updates

Three rounds of song delivery await us in September, the first o which already promising to bring in some big guns! Joining the overall debut of the latest Detective Conan-based theme (and the console debut of a recent Love Live! track), in fact, lies the two-times Tatsujin Ranking Dojo final challenge of Dairokuten Maou, Ura Oni on toe! Five RF/DF-exclusive Pops licenses will also be getting their own DLC-pack eternalization in the same day, with the 2020s Pops Pack.

The latest "removed song reparations" Ura Oni is also something of note, seeing how Fuun! Bachio Sensei is getting the Hibike! Taiko no Tatsujin treatment of receiving an unique Ura Oni chart to its shorter version! Unique indeed.

[TDM] - End of Distribution for The Drum Master

 Before our usual Saturday shenanigans, we take the time to forward on the blog what was also shared on social media (also by us, among other parties) since the start of this month. The Drum Master, the first game in the series available to both xBox systems and PCs is going to be shut down on digital outlets, effectively marking the end of distribution for the game as no physical releases for it were ever made.

Starting from the end of September 30th, it won't be possible to purchase the game on digital storefronts anymore, although redownloads of the game for those who already purchased it will still be possible. As of now, all paid DLC packs won't be discontinued for the time being, both for redownloads as well as single purchase.

This is a monumental day for Touhou Project fans all over the world, as this weekend's Comic Market 106 venue houses the doujin launch of the 20th-numbered mainline Touhou Project game!

Let's have some danmaku fun with it, for old time's sake.

Song of the Week! 9 August 2025

 

Among other things, this ending week has seen the first steps of official Taiko SNS towards the release of the 2025 main Ranking Dojo's final steps, with the usual multi-song teaser grid for potential candidates on the pre-Tatsujin courses.

Let's welcome this course of action with one of the songs from last year's final stretch! This one was the final hurdle to overcome 2024's Meijin course.

Taiko no Tatsujin (Mainland China 4th-gen) Autumn 2025 Updates

After our stalking attempt three months back, the teased "Autumn 2025" season large-scale update for 4th-generation Taiko no Tatsujin cabinets in mainland China has been dated for 2025/07/15*, as the preview trailer surfaces on official outlets including Bilibili and Weibo.
(*subject to the dongle work done by individual arcade operators)

While we wait for the full update notes, the main additions of the new update (and beyond) include:

• 19 tracks added (see below jump) including both mainland China exclusives and catch-up with the rest of the world
• Rolling in Rewards Campaign Autumn 2025 coming soon (no date listed 2025/07/15~11/14 source)
• Ranking Dojo 2025 coming soon in October 2025 (2024 trials will retire in September)
• Drummers' Square mini-program updates coming soon in August 2025 2025/08/06 source, including Track Collection (similar to Liked Tracks in other regions) and by-track score rankings

Like last season, the preview trailer is also paired with a message segment from Morikawa and Etou (at the end of the same video this time), which we will cover in a separate post.

It's time, once again, to bring up yet another live example of how getting geared with an Ura Oni chart isn't a licensed cover song's way to dodge perma-deletion action in Taiko grounds.

This time around, it's arguably a greater loss for those looking for an easy arcade medal grind...

[NS2] - Early-August's Vocaloid-Palooza Update!

The month of August couldn't have a better start for Taiko-attuned Vocaloid fans than this! After a shadowdrop reveal on Nicovideo (and the official announcement video up here), all versions of Donderful/Rhythm Festival have received some extra content for Taiko Music Pass subscribers, as part of the Hatsune Miku's Summer Song Festival! (夏の初音ミク曲祭り！) collaboration event.
