[DF] - Donderful/Rhythm Festival Compatibility Issues on Nintendo Switch 2

Now that we've all left the Day of Fools behind, we're faced with some ongoing-console Taiko talk that might affect Nintendo-system-owning players of the strong-running Donderful/Rhythm Festival, especially those who are eager to play it with the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 system.

Shortly after today's worldwide presentation, a dedicated Compatibility section for former Nintendo Switch titles on the new system was issued on the company's official website, listing both games that have showed technical issues during gameplay (50 on there) as well as games that had problems while loading for the "operational period", AKA their startup. There are 141 games for the latter category and as you can see, the latest Taiko no Tatsujin home console-turned-multiplatform experience is one of them. While the English equal of this list only profiled a generic "The issue is being investigated" line, the wording on the Japanese list states instead how Nintendo is looking for each of the involved software-manufactoring companies to find a solution for the startup issues found.

Until such time, hold off your horses if you're looking for some Taiko action on the Kyoto company's flagship console line evolution (I mean, if that initial asking price hasn't already done the trick to some of its viewers...); we'll be on the lookout for further developments of the situation.

Sonority Scouts - Prankfully Yours, 2025 Edition

Around the same time last year, I've read a random Japanese tweet standing for a position I've been sharing for quite a while: April Fools for your average rhythm game player is effectively a second Christmas day where the fanciest things happen for everyone, albeit for a really short time window.

Is it any different for this year, in the grand scheme of things? The answer is a click away...

Namco Taiko Blog (April 1st, 2025) - Gauntlet from a Corrupted Future

Yesterday's teaser shared via X was for the time-limited addition of a peculiar variant of the usual AI Battle Performance mode, here dubbed "Attack of the Dark Machina". Here, the titular scientist from the year 2765 and her AI drum companion are getting replaced by their more mischievous counterparts and challenge you to beat them at their own game, with limited unlockable goodies on the stake. Just scan this QR mode on any reader-equipped Nijiiro cabinet to take on this challenge!

And hoo boy, you won't BELIEVE what's the first song in the default list welcoming you on this mode...
