Wonder of all wonders, it's my birthday again! Although, I'm not in that jolly of a mood due to some (ongoing) pains...

As you're reading these lines, it's been a few days since I got one of my wisdom teeth removed and am experencing all sorts of sleep-depriving pains of its aftermath. I've been told how the human body's pain receptor system gives priority in concurring painful sensations to the strongest one of the bunch while suppressing the concurring lesser ones, so -knowing me- what could I use to cause a greater anguish than the one in my mouth... but OF COURSE: operation Hatsune Miku Song of the Week is-a-go!

In all seriousness, though, what we have here is a Hall of Legend candidate from late August 2023, composed by the nicknamed jon-YAKITORY and mix mastering duties from the also-nicknamed Rosso. Also known by the earlier handles of jon and jon_408, this is an artist with a knack for magic tricks in his kid years and a growing fondness to the Japanese hip-hop scenario, traits that contributed to the author's tendency of making music that's most interesting for him, eventually also landing songwriting jobs for other artists like Ado and Atarashii Gakkou no Leaders. In an interview from last year for Billboard Japan (link), he reveals how the desire of making something that would surprise his listerners -much like how the same jon-YAKITORY feels about his artists of choice- in form of a high-energy track straight from the early 2000s, with air horn blarting and lines from trendy memes of the time in Japan, from "Get Down" to liyric bits from Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo's Kame Rap. Most notably, the same interview also revealed how the Konton Boogie's creation as a whole was influenced by one piece of music that was going wild at the time: Unwelcome School from Nexon's Blue Archive mobile game, the same song that has also landed in official Taikos last year (although in a kinda-sorta fashion).

No matter the mode you choose- it's a generous barrage of notes that wouldn't stray too far from the 2nd-generation carting trends where 1/16 reigned supreme. No scrolling gimmickry or complex clusters going beyond the fifth note either, so it's as earnest of a challenge as it gets!
