Ranking Dojo 2023 Finale
After more than one month of foreshadowing including lists of potential candidate tracks, the back door leading to the Kurouto, Meijin, Choujin and Tatsujin trials of Ranking Dojo 2023 will be unlocked on 2023/09/23 for all locales. As one final teaser before the official rollout, the Taiko Team has revealed which of the candidate tracks and which slots they go to.
Donders may also remember the four series-debut tracks revealed on the official livestream, slated to take unknown spots in the above table. Three of them have decided to make an early appearance with their regular notecharts, while plotting unspeakable tricks in their Ura Oni notecharts in the actual trials:
Nosferatu (2023/09/09)
GORI×GORI×SafaRI (2023/09/16)
CUT! into the FUTURE (2023/09/21)
The fourth one shall meet you (and your doom) a bit lower in this post.
Sou-uchi Notecharts, the Valiant Return
Coined at the introduction of Sou'ryuu no Ran, Sou-uchi Notecharts (双打譜面) are 2-player notecharts that have completely different patterns for the two players (and not just alternating patterns in certain parts). In the handover to the 4th generation, Sou-uchi Notecharts have been temporarily retired for rework.
While the last time we heard from any Sou-uchi Notecharts returning was November 2020, the Taiko Team is now ready to bring back more of them! The Sou-uchi version of these four tracks will be playable right after the update on 2023/09/20:
Garakuta Doll Play
Soulcalibur II (recorded scores from 3rd-gen Ura Oni have been kept)
KAGEKIYO
Shunyuu ~happy excursion~
Etou also drops in to share the work done to resurrect the Sou-uchi Notecharts: in the past, Sou-uchi Notechart existed only at the "notechart level" and both sides had to play on the same difficulty (mostly Muzukashii and Oni). The Taiko Team has been hard at work to bring Sou-uchi to the "track level", which involves filling in missing difficulties based on the original Sou-uchi Notechart. That way, even those who are newer and not yet acclimated to higher difficulties can still enjoy Sou-uchi. Of course, the star rating for the Sou-uchi version will be adjusted accordingly with the whole "Sou-uchi ecosystem" in mind.
For those who are counting, two Sou-uchi Notecharts remain to be resurrected.
BLUE TOPAZ (Oni)
Many wow bang! (Ura Oni)
The Taiko Team are working to bring them back soon, as well as putting out an open possibility for new Sou-uchi Notecharts in the future.
Rolling in Rewards Campaign Autumn 2023
As mentioned previously, instead of holding just one large campaign, the Taiko Team is splitting this year's Rolling in Rewards Campaign into two smaller endeavours. Between 2023/09/21-11/30, another 50 reward items new and old will be up for grabs. You will get one for every credit played on your Bandai Namco Passport (or equivalent).
The lineup this time is completely different from the Spring 2023 campaign, but some Donders may have obtained some of the tracks or items through other means in the past.
Don Medal Shop Autumn 2023
As the autumn winds rise, the Don Medal Shop is once again changing the lineup on 2023/09/23. Pick any (or all) from three tracks to unlock with the Don Medals you earned:
Haikei, Gakkou ni te...
Taiko-zamurai
23:54, Hi no Tabiji e no Prelude
If new tracks do not interest you, what about the Ura notechart of Carmen Prelude as seen from Ranking Dojo Gaiden?
This time, the post did not mention any of the past lineup being retired from the shop and moved into the default song list. We shall see if any change happens on the day.
Addendum (2023/09/26): The Winter 2021 lineup has been retired from the shop and moved into the default song list. Go wild even if you didn't unlock them!
Don-chan Sekai Ryokou
Solitude Star
Agent Hustle & Dr. Hassle
Spectral Rider
Those still holding Don Medals gathered during the Summer 2023 season are reminded to spend them before the stash resets.
Song Request Survey
Finally, a reminder that the Taiko Team is holding another Song Request Survey to solicit ideas on what tracks to include in Nijiiro ver. Closing on 2023/10/08, you may enter up to five tracks for each category (Pops, Anime, Vocaloid and other genres).
