Today the official site of the upcoming Taiko no Tatsujin: Don to Katsu no Jikuu Daibouken has a second update. Let's see what new and exciting information we can extract!
StreetPass
New for the second 3DS Taiko game is the ability to communicate with fellow Taiko players via the built-in StreetPass functionality! There are two features that uses this:
Challenges
You can send out your high scores as challenges to others. Winning challenges (having a higher score) gives you DonPoints, rank ups, Taiko sounds and outfits.
Helper Friend
You can also share befriended monsters with others to help them in the story mode.
Space-time Adventure Mode
The site now has introduction for the first few worlds, including the environments, core NPCs, as well as monsters and bosses you could encounter.
Prologue
As an introductory boss battle, Don-chan will be facing Pietro with only Takkun in the party, under a festival scene. He will send purple kisses in a "Love Hurricane" to obstruct your view.
Warring States Period
Don-chan meets Yobunaga in the streets of ancient Japan's Warring States Period. With the help from friendly Japanese yokais such as sniper tanuki Teppou Mujina and cat-yokai ronin Nekomata Saburou, the party faces the lightning-conjuring oni Ashihara Douji.
European Renaissance
Visiting the grand castle in Versailles, our drum brothers get acquainted with rich Austrian princess Marie, amidst marital affairs with France's prince Louie. Here you can see western mythology familiars like the Happy Harpy and classic horror monsters like Sister Camilla the vampiric nun.
Dino Times
Rakkio, young warrior of the dinosaur-people race, is your friendly local acquaintance in this prehistoric jungle. Joining forces with other prehistoric beings like trilobites and dinosaurs, you take on the monstrously enormous dinosaur Giganto Rex at the deeps of a volcano. Watch out for its destructive tail!
Monster Types
With the first batch of 21 kinds of friendly monsters announced, six types has been confirmed:
- Yokai (よかい) - beings from Japanese legend
- Nature (しぜん) - beings relating to plants, animals or natural phenomenon
- Mythical (まもの) - beings relating to classic horror monsters
- Aerial (そら) - flying beings
- Dinosaur (きょうりゅう) - dinosaurs, duh
- Insect (むし) - insect-like beings

And what site update would be complete without the hype of new song inclusion? The Classical and Game Music genres receives a much-deserved expansion, as well as the first batch of Namco Originals are finally revealed.

Brand new songs include a 1989 song from the long-running Meiji's Karl snacks advertisement and a BGM from flight simulation action game ACE COMBAT 2.
In Namco Original, as well as the two songs as reported before, we also see a potential theme song candidate, suitably named "Super Space-time Adventure" literally.
The most peculiar addition, however, would have been the new Classical Dokadoka, which has perhaps one of the most unexpected readings for its four-kanji title in Taiko history. A literal translation, "crossbow-mosquito-furious-summer", lays even more mystery. Some fans speculate that this could be an arrangement of Donna Donna, "a Yiddish theater song about a calf being led to slaughter" (see also Wikipedia).
