Taiko arcade Tournament 2013 website

太鼓の達人 ドンだー!日本一決定戦2013

As of today, the upcoming arcade Taiko tournament has its own website, with everything in schedule for the event listed in detail. This means that the full schedule for the first two phases of the tourney has been revealed, at last!
  • The Qualifying Rounds will be held in the single arcade stores which will support this national competitive event. Only the first 20 players with Banapassport for each store can join this event, so book your seat before it's too late! This phase will last from August 10th to September 16th
  • The Area Elimination phase will see the best two players of the Qualifying Rounds (for each arcade) drumming against each other in order to be the best player of their Area and gain the access to the Finals. This one will last from September 28th to October 14th.
  • Planned for October 26th, this tournament's Finals will be held at Namco's Future Lab, right in NBGI's headquarters! Like the previous phases, the contest songs are CreoFuga songs played using Shin-uchi scoring rule.
For each phase, participation prizes and a Namco Bandai diploma are awarded to every player in the tournament! For a list of the arcades involved in this huge Taiko event, you can check the Tourney 2013 website's Shop Location section.

Random: Godlike sightreading

Or rather, text reading. Ever wondered how crazy setting multiple game modifiers is? Try having Detarame (S.Random) and Doron (Invisible) on at the same time, and read the katakana below the scroll bar to win!

Players in Japan are just way too skilled for their own good, man.

Taiko no Tatsujin: Shinkyoku Tori Houdai x Puyo Puyo

For those who haven't got this concept earlier, Namco loves to make collaborations all over the place! The latest smartphone-oriented one involves Sega once again, to promote both the Taiko franchise and the puzzle game series Puyo Puyo.

Namco Taiko Blog 2 (18 July 2013) - Stamina Tarou collab and Gashapon keychains

Today's second blog entry is a bit less exciting than the previous one, as it revolves around some of the Taiko gadgets and ads we have seen over the past few days.

Namco Taiko Blog (18 July 2013): Taiko Sorairo Game Version 5.04

Just in time for the preliminary round of the Taiko Tournament 2013 is this update, which starts releasing the CreoFUGA winner songs into the public build of Taiko no Tatsujin Sorairo Version. There are a couple more surprises though (the acquisition of some amazing licensed songs!). Come see!

Taiko no Tatsujin x Stamina Tarou

Namco is on a long roll with all these advertising campaigns for Taiko within Japan! From game series to convenience stores and lottery ticket companies, Taiko is moving towards the food industry with this campaign with Stamina Tarou, one of the largest chain stores selling meats, sushi and desserts in Japan.

This is just the first phase, starting July 20 and ending September 1 (there's more coming up from that date!). The folding cardboard set on the left is given out to the first 200,000 kids who dine there, and the one on the right is a lucky draw for the general public. 10 plush keychains, 20 juice mixers, 30 copies of Taiko 3DS (for those who still don't have the game) and 100 Taiko sports water bottles.

Taiko no Tatsujin x CoroCoro/Ciao! 2013 collab!

コロコロコミック真夏のわっしょいコラボ きせかえでハッピー!夏きゅん★ちゃおコラボ

As you might have noticed, this period for the Taiko no Tatsujin franchise is heavilly filled with cross-overs and collaborations all over the place. However, while most of those special events are openly advertised by the Taiko Team both on the official site and on the blog, some other ones are less advertised. Thus, enter the latest Sorairo-related arcade collaboration!

pikaby asks: Your dream console Taiko songlist?

We've all followed the hype trains before, we've followed Namco's progress on updating the songlists for console versions of Taiko and each time a lot of us have secret wishlists on what we want to see in the game so we can play it. We cross our fingers when the game is released so the early adopters can buy and unlock it song by song. The excitement of seeing each one being revealed.....few things can compare to it!

If you had a console Taiko no Tatsujin game songlist to make, how large would you want it to be and what songs do you want to be on it? Lots of Namco Originals? With repeats or fully new songs? What about license songs that just wouldn't make it (like a lot that are currently in Taiko 0)?

Let's hear some ideas!

Song of the Week! 13 July 2013

As we've seen on many occasions, the new arcade allows for songs to be easily added and taken out for the usage of special events. Wanna see a couple of those today?

Sorairo version 4.03 videos

Punctual as always, Japan! Let's check out the new songs from today's update!

Namco Taiko Blog (11 July 2013)- Taiko no Tatsujin Tournament 2013

Or, as the official name says: "Taiko no Tatsujin Japan No. 1 Donder! Decisive Battle 2013" A mouthful, so we'll just stick to calling it the Taiko Tournament 2013 then.

Before we begin the blog post proper, a side note: Version 4.03 is out now for Sorairo! Stay tuned for chart videos and updates!

Notechart Analysis: Music Revolver (Ura)

One of you requested that I do a feature on clearing the streams of Music Revolver (Ura) so I'm doing exactly that today!

Song of the Week! 6 July 2013

Well, guys... it finally happened. After so many consecutive months of successful Group challenges in the DonChare, June 2013's collective trial ultimately resulted in a failure, with 8,730 plays for the chosen songs against the required 10,000.

In order to ease this disappointing result, today I'm going to cover one of the two Namco Originals involved for last June's Group challenge. And since we already covered the other song last month, there's just one more to go.

Taiko Team's Fifth UStream: Let's Make Music Together!

As Taiko Team's newest UStream/Nicovideo session wraps up, here is our usual summary post for those who have missed the broadcast. With the live notecharting project and a bunch of random announcements in the mix, there's a lot to talk about, isn't it? (Credit to tetsutaro for the pictures!)

Namco Taiko Blog (4 July 2013) - Taiko Team live session

This Thursday's blog entry is exactly as the title says! It's about tomorrow's UStream session with the Taiko Team.

Of course, the focus will be Etou's live-charting project of the provisional version of Ryuwitty's Eternal bond, but other stuff will be discussed as well, such as:
  • First details about the Taiko summer tourney and how to join it
  • Next Thursday's Sorairo software update (GV 4.03) and Shin-uchi talk
  • Dojo Ranking talk, mostly about the final courses and the related unlocks
  • "Other confidential information" (possibly something new)
Since the live modding will probably consume a lot of time, this presentation will be a little bit longer than the previous ones, lasting for two and a half hours, 7pm to 9.30pm (Japan time). As already said, it can be watched from Taiko Team's Nicovideo or UStream channels.

The awakening of a demon

In case you haven't caught wind of the news yet, the 10 Dan course, once completed, unlocks a special surprise at the end. We've never shown what is actually unlocked on the front page of the blog before so here it is! The demon that is Joubutsu 2000!

As for the conditions of unlocking, we're in the midst of preparing an article for Sorairo's Dojo Ranking mode so stay tuned for that!
