Namco Taiko Blog (2 July 2013) - Taiko Sorairo July firmware update

*New information added on July 3, 2013*

Once again, an ordinary Tuesday becomes a surprise day as the team announces yet another update for this month! What's new this time?

1) New songs!

Five of em this time, most of them licensed songs.

Kyary Pamyu Pamyu's Ninja Re Bang Bang (にんじゃりばんばん) and Sayonara Scroll (さよならクロール) are set to make their Taiko debut. Since Kyary's name isn't shown next to the song title this time, chances are we are getting a cover version of the song.

Together with the new J-Pop entries, a third licensed song called Diamond Happy (ダイヤモンドハッピー). Said song comes from the Anime series Aikatsu!

Remember that Taiko-exclusive IA song by Ishifune previously mentioned in one of the past blog entry? Now it has a name and an arcade release! Geragera to Warauna (ゲラゲラと笑うな) is accompanied by another surprise, also shown in the picture.

By popular demand, the previously-limited song Miku Miku ni Shite Ageru♪【Shite Yan Yo】 (みくみくにしてあげる♪【してやんよ】) will be made available to everyone to play. Will the other limited edition songs (like the Touhou songs) follow suit?

Oh yeah, and playing Diamond Happy will unlock a costume of the main character, Ichigo Hoshimiya (星宮いちご), which looks nice and pink and glittery and cards floating around...it's rare that we get floating elements in costumes.

2) The return of Shin-uchi!

The score modifier is back, and better than ever! If you forgot what the mode is all about, you can read it in this post, there are some major changes: the maximum score for any song excluding drumrolls and balloon notes will be limited to 1 million points regardless of difficulty (like Pop'n Music and Jubeat) and the Donder Hiroba website will record of the Shin-uchi scores separately from the standard scoring method.

Most importantly, Shin-uchi is now selectable alongside the other game modifiers instead of at the main menu, meaning that it will be possible to switch it on and off between songs and even play with another player with different scoring rules! But if a song with Kusudama notes is being played while one player has Shin-uchi on and not for the other, these will be split into two balloon notes and the number of hits cut in half and rounded up.

You can see the Shin-uchi icon while playing.

Etou also mentioned the possibility to use Shin-uchi's return in more Taiko-related stuff besides the tournament, such as Donchare trials and so on.

3) Bug fixes!

After several bug reports about the voice sample in Dojo Ranking mode after the 2000 combo marker, GV 4.03 will patch the issue with the correct audio input.

The update is 9 days from now! Get ready!
