Namco Taiko Blog (27 June 2012)- Taiko no Tatsujin x Megpoid GUMI

Vocaloid fever strikes once more! Three songs by a different Vocaloid, Megpoid GUMI, is making it into Taiko no Tatsujin Codename Katsu-Don, as part of GUMI celebrating her third anniversary yesterday.

Unlike Hatsune Miku, GUMI is not produced by Crypton Future Media, but by Internet Co. Ltd (yes, there is a company called Internet), although both are still powered by the same Vocaloid 2 software by Yamaha. The character is shown above. There will be three songs by Megpoid GUMI in the upcoming Taiko arcade, and they are:
  • 'Matryoshka' by Hachi, using both GUMI and Hatsune Miku (マトリョシカ ハチ feat.初音ミク・GUMI)
  • 'Juumensou colorful ver.' by YM, using GUMI (十面相 colorful ver. YM feat. GUMI)
  • 'Mosaic Roll' by DECO*27, using GUMI (モザイクロール DECO*27 feat. GUMI)
GUMI and co. will be appearing as special dancers in the three songs shown above, with Megpoids on the right and Donko, Omen Gosou and Lantern Eel on the left wearing wigs.

Don-chan will also be getting a GUMI costume on the new arcade, presumably obtained by playing the GUMI songs.

That was a lot of Vocaloid! But! It's not over yet!

Sometime soon in the future, there is going to be another song-making contest in the same vein as the CreoFUGA one last year, only this time it's a contest for making songs with GUMI in it, and of course the winners will have their songs made playable on Taiko.

Have you listened to the three songs before? Matryoshka was a very popular song, and was one of the most acclaimed Vocaloid songs for the past few years, and its appearance in modern rhythm games was hampered only by licensing issues, because Miku and Gumi are by different companies. Anyway, I'll leave it at that. This brings the total Vocaloid song count in Taiko no Tatsujin to nine, ten if you count Wanya World.
