Namco Taiko Blog (September 26 2016): The Fun Never Ends with Don-chan and Puzzles

If you did not know, the BNEI Japan headquarters (Future Lab) has long since moved from the old site near Aomono-yokochou Station for over half a year already. Now that they are here at Minato's Shiba/Mita area (芝三田エリア), the company will be starting a tie-in event with shops in the nearby Keiounaka-toori Shopping Street (慶応仲通り商店街), with Don-chan as the poster model.

Twitter Snippets (20 September 2016) - Taiko no Tatsujin at Autumn Reitasai '16

Pre-livestream, slow news days for the Taiko front isn't that new of a phenomenon and as an enforcer of that statement, the only story-related content we can offer you as of now is an announcement... of future announcements.

To be more precise, the Taiko Team will host yet another Touhou Project-related event in occasion for the incoming Autumn edition of the Hakurei Shrine Reitasai convention for everything Touhou, with the full details being revealed during the Sep 30th livestream run (of which the broadcast link is also supplied above!).

For the sake of completion, we also leave you with a direct link for the Autumn Reitasai's other gaming-related events, with the appearance -among others- of other software companies (namely Konami and Sega) attending the event with their music series for free plays/exclusive songs and Taito's returning Groove Coaster series with a brand new soundtrack album being purchasable during the event.

Breaking: Chain Chronicle TGS2016 Press Conference Reveals 2nd Taiko Collab

While, as we said, Taiko no Tatsujin is not having much to go on in this year's Tokyo Game Show, staying tuned to the Sega Booth mainly to look at Puyos originally turned out to be fruitful because Sega's mobile RPG-turned franchise plans for another collaboration.

This time around, Don-chan will be more than just a weapon and be available as a full-blown character for you to do (whatever you do in Chain Chronicle). On the Taiko no Tatsujin front, AC0 Red ver. and iOS/Android Plus STH will feature new Chain Chronicle music to play to. The two-way collaboration will come in about Autumn 2016.

Sympho-Neighbours - An Ode to Endless Oblivion

Once again, a song removal announcement for the currently-running line of Taiko arcades can mean the definitive end for a selection of tracks to be playable in any Taiko no Tatsujin-related media ever released to date (with a few exceptions), unlike being framed in their cabinet version forever with the past numbered arcade titles.

That being said, acts of definitive banishment from a music series are far from new, as many music game franchises in both past and present times are performing this kind of stunt from time to time! Here's a selection of some of the most prominent tales of forever-gone songs in other music series.

Taiko no Tatsujin Red Ver. (International) Song List

After a long, long wait, Taiko no Tatsujin in Asia seems to have finally almost caught up with the Japanese release! No, no Donder Hiroba yet, but in terms of new content, Red Version (Asia) has an almost 1:1 match with its Japanese brethren, including all new songs from Day 1 save one licensed song, and with an early song update that came at the same day as the JP version too, which is quite impressive. Loads of old songs previously never available for Asia have been released too.

Asian Red is also the first time the Don Point system has been reset for the region; all previous songs in the point chain have been unlocked by default for all players. Smart fixes to the user interface mirror that of the JP release; separating costume select from diving straight into the game, and putting exit signs every five or six songs on folder select (for players who find it more intuitive than hitting right kat -> left kat).

Song of the Week! 17 September 2016

This week it was revealed that the Taiko Team is holding a couple of week-long Twitter campaigns for the next livestream session, with the latter of the couple, #譜面ジャー組み合わせ (lit. '#MusicSentaiCombination'), being about a poll to decide which among three recurrent notecharters in Taiko games will get to collaborate for a future forked-path song.

While I'm still not that much versed on frequently using Twitter, I might as well join the voting fun by having my pick as our latest Song of the Week feature! ...will the vote count this way, too?

Namco Taiko Blog (16 September 2016) - Red Ver. 2.07 Bug Fixes

Since the latest update's launch last Wednesday, there have been some case reportss of Banapassport players that aren't able to access either the Dojo Ranking or the Taiko School features of Red Version after failing a Dojo Ranking course on the subsequent play; the Taiko Team has itemized the issue and is already preparing a bug fix update.

Said update, dubbed Game Version 3.02, will go live tomorrow, on Saturday 17th.

Namco Taiko Blog 2 (15 September 2016) - The Red Purge (=Red ver. Song Removal)

We've got one third blog entry today for the obligatory once-in-an-arcade-version-time where some of the eldest licensed songs get booted off from the arcade (and sometimes out of any other game of the franchise, period). Aside from the usual J-POP and Anime losses, this time around we have cuts for the Vocaloid and Children/Folk genre as well!

After the jump is the list of soon-to-be-departed arcade tracks.

Taiko Plus/STH: More Songs for Gyakkyoku Tori Houdai, After Summer ver.

Oh look, WCS2016 song choices are making to more console games (if you count the smartphone platform as a console)! That should keep you happy despite the fact that we posted this half a month late.

Taiko no Tatsujin at TGS2016

...actually not much really. Taiko no Tatsujin Dokodon Mystery Adventure (3DS3) is the main Taiko game showing on the floors this year with trial plays, with a stage event at 11:50-12:20 on September 18 at the Family Game Park (not livestreamed). Taiko no Tatsujin Plus/STH is also present with just video clips.

In the meantime, look at Taiko no Tatsujin making a cameo as a booth (2:13-2:17) at the fictional PlayStation Matsuri alongside Overwatch and Final Fantasy. This came out of the Sony PlayStation Press Conference. Thanks LefaLefa for the tip-off!

Alright I'll be looking at the Sega Booth for their new Puyo game then kthxbai

Namco Taiko Blog (15 September 2016) - Daifuku's Double Livestream Blog Entry

First Videos: Red ver. V2.07 (Asia V1.05) Adds

On this day where all AC0 Red ver. cabinets, Japan and outside, get an update. For some reason let's have the Japan-exclusive elements first!

とんかつDJアゲ太郎 Tonkatsu DJ Agetarou (4/6/7/9, 725 notes on Oni)
   ‐太鼓の達人Mix‐ -Taiko no Tatsujin Mix-
DJ-ing is a very rhythm-conscious job, and hence so is this sort-of medley of the anime about barely linking DJ-ing and frying Tonkatsu pork chops. The song starts with highly mixed 4- and 6-hits with frequent offbeats, then to a 12th- and 24th-centric bridge and a resting smooth section, ending with a slightly heightened BPM (though at the same scroll speed) featuring way longer streams.

FANTASTIC BABY (3/3/5/7, 543 notes on Oni)
Mostly doubles and mixed triples 16th clusters, this song is faster than the last K-POP pick MISTER making it a more rightful ★7.

友よ~この先もずっと… Tomo Yo~Kono Saki mo Zutto (2/4/4/5, Papa Mama Support, 279 notes on Oni)
「映画クレヨンしんちゃん 爆睡!ユメミーワールド大突撃」より Crayon Shin-chan: Fast Asleep! Dreaming World Big Assault!
The easiest Ketsumeishi song ever marks a 8th-based notechart with just isolated triples and offbeat singles.

サイレントマジョリティー Silent Majority (2/4/4/6, 284 notes on Oni)
Slow song again, but the patterns are a good selection for ★6 going onto ★7. Begins with offbeats and hanging doubles in the opening and closes with a more 3- and 5-hit centric chorus.

ブラッドサーキュレーター Blood Circulator (2/4/5/7, Papa Mama Support, 414 notes on Oni)
   「NARUTO‐ナルト‐疾風伝」より Naruto: Shippuden
A higher-end ★7 with a high speed and quite hefty on the clusters for a good sweat, which go up to 5-hit ddddd.

 Paradisus‐Paradoxum (3/5/6/8, 414 notes on Oni)
「Re:ゼロから始める異世界生活」より Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World-
High speed is the game here, and topped with 5-hit clusters not being a rare scene and even 9-hit ddddkkkkd for four times. The selection of triples also varies much to rarer ones like kdd which might throw off new ★8s.

Abandoned Temple Final 2nd (3/4/6/9, 614 notes on Oni)
   「鉄拳7 FR」より Tekken 7 Fated Retribution
Scattered 32th (actually double BPM at half scroll speed) doubles and triples all around and within its longer and highly mixed streams is not exclusive to ★10s now, I regret to tell you. While it's not as crazy as FLOWER Ura or Sou'ryuu no Ran it is still something.

仙酌絶唱のファンタジア Senshaku Zesshou no Fantasia (3/5/5/9, 701 notes on Oni)
   東方Projectアレンジ Touhou Project Arrange
博麗神社例大祭コラボユニット Hakurei Shrine Reitaisai Collab Unit
The effort of various artist remixing different Touhou music is finally up onto Taiko no Tatsujin, and while parts of them are easy enough, there are enough challenge to bump it to a rightful ★9 including the final stretch of the Touhou Project main theme. Oh, and don't forget the last note after the 130+ hit balloon.

conflict (4/5/7/9, 736 notes on Oni)
   siromaru+cranky
Possibly the height of eye-catchingness of the day, the BMS-spawn and conqueror of five other rhythm game makers is... surprising easy on Taiko no Tatsujin? The bulk of the notechart is just hefty streams of 16th clusters. As a ★9 this late into the 3rd generation it is very devoid of 24th clusters or other gimmicks, making it arguably and significantly easier than KUSANAGI, Ryuumyaku no Ou or another handful of higher ★9s.

And no, we do not have the time to sing it here, but Etou did a few weeks back if you like.

VICTORIA (5/7/8/10, 868 notes on Oni)
   Cranky
Ending with a HD recording of the WCS2016-spawn to tell you that the ★1 ratings at the reveal are in fact decoys.
