TT 1st anniversary: Taiko Quiz questions

It's really been that fast? Taiko Time is a year old already? Yep, we started in July 31 last year and looks like we've covered most of the basic stuff needed to be a fully-fledged fansite...and none of this would have been possible if it weren't for the great support from all of you. Really, thanks to everyone who has come here to read the pages for information, or just to comment on the blogs or chat. It's because of all the fans here that we keep on working on the site!

You may notice a few changes made to the site's layout in time for the 1st anniversary, and I'll talk about these in a bit more detail later, but right now, let's play a game.

Lokamp and I thought of two different ways for you to test your knowledge on Taiko no Tatsujin. First up is a text quiz where you just try to answer all ten questions. The second quiz is to guess the name of the song by looking at the note patterns in the screenshot. Sound tough to you? It's not a challenge for nothing! And we have a small prize for anyone who wants to try these too! One for each quiz! To avoid spoiling the challenge, send us the answers by email (either me or Lokamp) instead of commenting below. The comments are used here for discussion only~

Lokamp's Taiko quiz

1) Aside from Taiko no Tatsujin, Namco helped to develop another drumming rhythm game which was published by Nintendo and features a certain mascot character from Nintendo. What game series is it? Name 6 songs which both Taiko no Tatsujin and that game have in common.

2) By counting the 70 basic songs and the 10 promo + Ura ones on Taiko PSP DX, what is the highest Max Combo value that can be reached with 8 songs on Medley Mode?

3) The first DS Taiko has a fatal bug which would crash the game irreversibly if all three profiles has Don-chan in a costume. A patch for the game was released to fix the bug. When did the distribution of the patch end?

4) Name 14 songs that have only appeared on arcades once, as of Taiko 14+, 2 for each of the genres J-Pop, Anime, Variety, Children, Classic, Game Music, Namco Original.

5) Triple-number bonanza! Name three songs which have a max combo of 333 in Oni/Donderful mode.

6) I'm looking for a particular song, but I can remember only a few details:

-) There are 202 Kat notes, and 3 of these are big notes;
-) 1/3 clusters occur during the song;
-) There is a single Go-Go Time zone.

7) The previous leader of the Taiko Team was Takahashi-san. When is his birthday?

8)Name five songs in Taiko no Tatsujin made by Ikimono Gakari.

9) Metal Hawk, this week's Song of the Week, has specific requirements in order to change path. But can you name other 3 songs which have a similar requirement? What is the requirement?

10) In 2009, three songs were said to be released using a second secret code of Taiko 12, which is non-existent and is actually a fan-made April Fools joke which spread like wildfire. Name the three songs.

  2. @4yvaak: I'd prefer if you emailed the answers to me so others can come up with their own answers as well.

  3. ...you know, a lot of the screenshots are indecisive since a lot of songs have similar patterns :|

  4. I think they're pretty decisive if you look at the combo count, score increment and other clues (e.g. lyrics) :)

    Although having said that different versions count score differently though...(hopefully #7 is what I think it is)

  5. What's to say that the pictures aren't showing incorrect combo counts? I mean, the player could miss a few notes to change the combo count from where it should be on a particular point. And some don't even show whether the hit was a good or ok, which changes the score increment. Also, the score increment shown has a little lag compared to the current note that is hit, so you don't know whether the increment is for a good or ok hit. And we haven't even factored in whether the score increment was for a big or small note. With that tl;dr, there's quite a bit of factors that the player can manipulate in those pictures.

    Then again, I love a good challenge. Bring it on.

  8. The current combo is a big hint. I already have people who successfully guessed all 10 correctly ^^
