Surprise update! Although it is only Wednesday, Etou has brought us news about another upcoming fireware update for the Momoiro ver. arcades!

Another major version-up for AC0?

We once again turn to arcade distributor US Industrial's website on their website for the scope of this yet-to-be-confirmed rumor. As their New Products page reveals, the company is inviting ordering for a Taiko no Tatsujin July 2014 Conversion Kit item. That could imply we are going to see another large-scale firmware update! This is also mirrored by a corresponding entry at am-net, an arcade game information portal.

This is also the first large-scale firmware update since the advent of International HD Taiko cabinets. What would this mean for all the overseas Donders?

The content description goes on to revealing some possible candidates of new features, including character songs for the popular mascots Funassyi and Kumamon (i.e. Kumamoto Surprise! as from Wii U1 DLC). And of course the usual fare of new additions of J-POP, Anime, Vocaloid and even Touhou Project Arrange tunes will also be present.

Red Rose Evangel's artist name...finally revealed!

cry out isn't the only album that Namco Original song Red Rose Evangel is on. Another of Ayane's albums, Luminous Flux, also contains the full version of the song, though there is one thing: whoever published this album was not careful enough to hide the artist name!

Red Rose Evangel was, to our knowledge, made by an unknown artist with the alias Zeami. Guess who he really is!

Tatsuya Shimizu's name finally comes out into the light. A Konami composer made the no Mai and Rose series songs!

Though many people already knew it all along, it doesn't hurt to have more evidence!

Postcards from the Niconico Super Conference 3

After this weekend's Niconico Super Conference 3 event, a lot of information about the Taiko collaborations has surface, which includes pictures of both the 2nd leg of the Game Music Triangle and the Touhou collab.

Not much is currently known about the details of the GMT Mashup songs (aside for Densha de Densha de OPA! OPA! above: 451 on Muzukashii and 658 on Oni), but there is confirmation of how difficult they are on Oni. Both Hiro's Ridge de Ridge de GO!GO!GO! and Masubuchi Yuuji's Densha de Densha de OPA!OPA!OPA! GMT mashups have a 9* Oni, while COSIO's Opa! Opa! RACER has an 8* Oni. All three songs are scheduled for Groove Coaster, Maimai GreeN Plus and our very own Taiko Momoiro this 8th of May.

Surprisingly enough, the three new Touhou collaboration songs appeared at the event, allowing player to try out the songs and unlock the promotional outfit before this year's Hakurei Shrine Festival event. Here are the star ratings (and notecounts) being reported for the event:

• Necro-Fantasy ~ Arr.Demetori - ?/7/?/10 (?/371/698/1160)
• Kero⑨destiny - 4/6/6/9 (104/160/275/382)
• Tsuki ni Murakumo - 4/5/6/8 (167/?/?/769)

While there were no Uras reported at the event, if this turns out to be true, the Variety genre just got its second 10* Oni in the span of 2 months, with this one being its first Oni chart to exceed 1000 notes! We'll see if these turn out to be legitimate down the road.

It's been a really eventful week on every corner of Taiko no Tatsujin, with collaborations happening everywhere ans especially frenetic on the arcade! Our humble blog has had some additions recently too; two new writers!

Taiko iOS Update 2.3.0 - Now Supports Roland V-Drums!

Apart from the Wii/Wii U series and the Taiko Controller Pro, Taiko no Tatsujin Plus for iOS is also getting a brand new means of input!

Earlier this week, Taiko Plus pushed forward a new version (2.3.0). In addition to fixing compatibility issues with iOS 6 and tweaking controls in the song selection menu, the iPad version also adds support to Roland's V-Drums series of electronic drum sets!
