Namco Taiko Blog (September 4th, 2025) - The Customary Pre-Livestream Nijiiro Update

It's almost time for the usual Ranking-Dojo-ushering official livestream and with that, we're greeted with the notice of three songs made playable for the first time.

There's something else we'd like to talk about today's entry on its own, so we'll see you after the jump for that.

...for today's "hidden talk" corner, there's an elephant in the room that needs to be addressed, one that was also highlighted on SNS by other X users. As it turns out, the second of the newcoming Pops songs also listed in the grid above was actually submitted at first for last year's Columbia Makes Taiko original music contest, bearing an almost-one-to-one match between its title and artist credit mention.

The original submission of the song is still available -for the time being- on the 2024 music contest website like all other leftover entries, sporting a playable cut that goes well beyond the recommended "around 2 minutes" length that has been profiled across most of the latest yearly Taiko music contests. Apparently, it even managed to rack over 36k playbacks to date! Until we get official word from the Taiko Team's reps about this unusual situation, however, we can't do nothing but speculation as of now...
