Sonority Scouts - Prankfully Yours, 2023 Edition

While Taiko no Tatsujin is having its jolly ole fun spoofing high school romancing games (and possibly that soul-drenching pop'n music Lapistoria), the general music gaming scenario has been more active than last year on their shenanigans assets, be it for returning or brand-new April Fools-a-holic aficionados everywhere.

So what are we waiting for!?

It is tradition to start on Sega grounds, seeing as they and Taiko are apparently left as the only jokesters of the game centers. For this year, apparently they're finally having their location test of the fabled Pachinko maimai Deluxe machines! But for those poor souls who couldn't attend the shut-doors event (which is to say everyone), two of its fresh hot themes are made playable while also employing Takenobu Mitsuyoshi himself for one hell of a vocal job!

2023 has also seen the CHUNITHM landscape double their efforts on their April Fools job, seeing how it look like all Ongeki is getting this time are AF reruns and a longer Ichigeki event.

Much like last year, where CHUNITHM OLD was revealed to juxtapose the then-running NEW, the ongoing SUN firmware is getting mirrored with a fabled CHUNITHM MOON release, loaded with Classic songs to let foreign life forms have a taste of the human kind's experiences (think the Voyager probe's always-playing recording of humanity) while itself being shaped like a planet-approaching device! Three of such songs are now available to the SUN crowd too, with Sega Sound Team remixes of tunes that might be familiar to Taiko fans, might be familiar to bemani fans in general and might make me remember of old Italian breakfast biscuit commercials.

Of course, center-stage attention was gathered by the above-embeded WORLD'S END charts, one with the returning Irorimidori-shaped shenanigans now making possible to have a playable chart out of an ASMR track and -that's right- that Cranky AF song project that was teased last year, in livestream form!

Aside from Ongeki, we have another duo of music game series bringing back their own shtick to the masses, with SOUND VOLTEX reviving all three April 1st songs (with a tacked-on limited S-RANDOM modifier) and Groove Coaster holding an event revival with all the past AF unlocks avilable, despite its arcade branch effectively entering maintenance mode as of last year's end.

Suffice to say, our past Drumvent celebrations made me realize just how much you guys love the Vocaloid-powered Project Sekai mobile music game, so why don't we have a double serving of it!?

Japanese players this morning were greeted with a one-day story starring the real-life Sekai performers getting enrolled in Shibuya's Mikdemy, to the joy of Principal Mikudayo. Its anthem has also been made playable for two days, just like our own turf's Aohara Academy theme!

The later-released English/Global server also had their own April Fools to keep English-speaking people entertained, but it's a bit underwhelming that it's just a redirect in tweet form to the April Fools 'dream units' MVs that Japan got last year...

Branching out of Sega-related antics, here we land at NoxyGames' Lanota displaying just how much in a hurry is one of their characters, up to the point of invading song selection screens!

A few taps on the running Ritmo will lead you to a chart that starts just like last year's AF pick, up until becoming a completely different game. Wanna re-enact the silly antics of Tanchiky's ENERGY SYNERGY MATRIX music video, music and Lanota/random Internet memes included? Now you can!

It's available for tomorrow as well, so you have a little extra time to get the related limited unlock or just passing the whole deal without getting literally Rickrolled at any mistake...

Arcaea's story might be over, but the fun doesn't stop there! The latest in 1-day QoLs for lowiro's game is the introduction of an AI assistant, ready to help in chat form with song recommandations to try out with flowery introductions that might give me a run for my inexistent SotW/series showcase-writing money (just like other AI prompts, huh...)

Just be sure not to overload the digital darling with your inquiries, would you? That might be the prelude to being met with a terribl-urk, I mean Black Fate with one vicious Camellia song remix and some of the gimmicks exclusive to the final story chapters.
(While we're at it, can you spell 'D Y N A M I X' ?)

The Likes-spam feature is also back for one day, for those who want to replay without hassles the past AF songs but haven't unlocked those just yet.

Phigros is also back for a new stunt, one that not even the official Twitter account advertises! If you feel in your out-of-season mojo and play a Christmas-y Miku song, you'll get a handy remote to change the temperature of the song's charting to your own liking!

However, if you set it too low it will freeze your inputs and make the song unplayable... while also serving you with a brand new chart/remix for your cooling troubles!

Another new player in Prankfully Yours rounds is DreamEngine with their own shake-friendly Rotaeno music game, in one update with might make you scouting for a certain vowel for quite the treat...

Simply reach the 'About' screen and tap the rotating 'e' that appears in the game's logo to have a chance to play one Black MIDI song that took the Internet by storm 5 years ago. Will this be a sacrifice that your fingertips and wrists are willing to make?

Once again, RAVON is returning with the whole RAMEN shenanigans for the whole fanbase to enjoy, but the reason it's big-embedded this way is for the... shall we say, peculiar choice of announcement that only the crustier Microsoft Wordart could bring to life. And apparently it's also recently used for more legit reveals elsewhere, too!

Another couple of continuing gags also come here, even if just on visuals-only matters. More screens for the fabled Deemo rhythmic RPG show up, while a very concerned livestream/shitposting DJ from Cytus II discovers the most devilish of EASY 16 charts to be concocted!

We end up with another sequel/repeat in Muse Dash from PeroPero Games, using the day to advertise the latest sale while also releasing a shitpost-y trailer and ingame-limited contents to match.

Delete your Muse Dash and join the totally-cereal Ola Dash, or just have Ola herself appearing in your MD game in her boxing apparel-your choice!
