We're used to see Taiko-playable debuts on the game center on certain Saturdays across the year, but a few selectied tunes have had their unique playable debut on certain moments of the year, with this being the second Namco Original track to come out in the first day of the year, like Shinra Banshou from 2021. If you believe that the freshly-introduced Uta Utau U Tayuta-u holds the candle as the first Chinese zodiac-referencing song debut, think again!

With 2022 being the latest Year of the Tiger, a punny Japan-English wordplay on the word Extra and 'Tora' (or トラ, for 'tiger') and even a full-instrumental joint can fit the bill! This is also the latest Taiko no Tatsujin contribution from the nicknamed Kaneko Chiharu, an artist inspired by SOUND VOLTEX music contests to create sounds of his own who managed to be that very same series's first edition-pluri-winner in the ongoing Konami Arcade Championship music contests. Since the last time we heard of Kaneko as the composer of the infamous poxei♦DOON, the eccentric Twitter-posting user has managed to leave more of his footprints in general music gaming, spanning across now-dead rhythm games (WACCA), ongoing mobile sensations' very final Story chapter (Arcaea) and the always-solid Sega otoge triumvirate of maimai, CHUNITHM and Ongeki. (someone should name a wiki after one of these songs)

It's been a while since we last saw a song with such a handsome Oni Max Combo value (TT blog veterans would know what I'm talking about), but the blenf of 1/12-1/16-1/24 hybrid cluster charting is just as modern there as it is now! Coast through this trial for the handswitch-versed in the relative ease of no visual scrolling sorcery on the horizon, in what could be interpreted as a modern retelling of Karamari no Hana's own Oni chart.
