It's really long overdue to state the following: this decade-outlasting blog of ours could not have reached such an archival-related coverage without the heavy leverage lifted by indie content creator-lead channels on video-sharing websites, with the share of the lion (as you can see) being pulled out by YouTube. It's more than nice, then, to spot other people that have also benefited from it to the point of celebrating the service in song form... although it's not the actual theme song, as the title might suggest! This Youtube Theme Song was made and performed by the brothers HIKAKIN and SEIKIN, whose humble origins in the musical and online scene were already discussed about two years ago on our shores (link).
While what we can also hear on Taiko was released online in the Summer of 2015, the original project branches as back as 2012, due to HIKAKIN asking his brother SEIKIN to compose a one-chorus acapella bit for one of his videos. SEIKIN committed himself to produce a longer piece, which in turn nurtured the desire of making a vocal song out of it over time, a wish that would be granted thanks to a trusted aquaintance of both: the Vocaloid/DJ producer TeddyLoid, who reworked the acapella track into a dubstep-enhanced pop tune and even offered his place for shooting the song's music video. Said music video was uploaded on August 13th on the HikakinTV channel, registering the rare feat of 10+Million views on an official music video within the first month as well as becoming the channel's first video to break 100M views on May 2020. On November 21st, 2020, a single for it was self-published by HIKAKIN's UUUM content-creator network on both physical and digital stores, hitting high peaks on iTunes's single and album charts (11th and 2nd respectively) while also garnering some traction in general as Billboard Japan Hot 100's No.78 place for its release year.
This track and JOIN US were the original frontrunners for the video celebrity brothers'Taiko foray, with the Taiko no Tatsujin Plus games housing them for everyone to enjoy for free for a limited time; while such J-Pop-labeled times are long past gone, being released on both modern arcades and home console titles is enough to retain a permanent playable outlet among the Variety tunes. This was the genre's first credited charting job by Taiko Team member Emukepi (えむけぴ), who opted for a "Taiko Time regular Oni-lite" approach to better support the song's frequent backbeats. Mind those note stanza repetitions with increments and the Full Combo performance is in the bag!
