[ACN] - Early System Board Specs for Nijiiro Ver.

(Gen4-related posts that are not tied to the Taiko blog/Twitter posts will have the 'ACN' tacked on, reflecting the new arcade line's Nijiiro nickname.)

Rounding up today's blog entry about the incoming arcade Taiko remodeling kit, we've scouted a week-old news piece from GAME Watch that sheds some light upon the new system board's model among other things, thanks to the help of the TnT Discord's diligent users.

Comparison-wise, the Taiko no Tatsujin arcade models that have been going on from the 2011 release to the near-ending Green Version regimen have been using the System 357, an arcade board based on the PlayStation 3's architecture that has been used for several games, from Tekken 6 (2007) to Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme Versus (2010). Starting from the March 2020 revision, modern Taiko arcades will be using the System BNA1 board, which instead will operate on a PC-based architecture, running under Windows 10 IoT (for Internet of Things).

Sporting an Intel Core i5 6500 for its CPU and holding for its GPU a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050Ti board, its specs are roughly at the same performing class as the PlayStation 4, with the first System BNA1 arcade titles getting released between 2019 (Mobile Suite Gundam Extreme Versus 2; Sword Art Online Deep Explorer) and 2020. Upon asking to the Bandai Namco staffers at JAEPO, however, the GAME Watch writer reports that the new Taiko arcades won't mount the System BNA1 itself, but instead a custom variation tailored for the rhythm game in order to reduce its manufacturing price alongside its board specifications.
