Song of the Week! 18 May 2019

In light of the recent news concerning the future discontinuation of Bandai Namco's Synchronica arcade music game, today's track was made by a couple of Namco-affiliated artists who moved there their first step into music gaming as a whole.

Seiten no Reimei (lit. 'Dawn of the Blue Sky') is the second joint-work song for Taiko gaming from the nick-named steμ and siroa, both of which we already talked about last year in our Taiko Drum Monster song feature. Just like that song, this top-Oni-rated Namco Original was also adopted as the representative track of the Taiko series for an edition of the Tenkaichi Otogesai music game cross-torunament, checking in for its 5th edition under the Blue Version operational period.

What we can add new for this song talk in particular is that guitarist Takanori Goto (後藤貴徳) has claimed to be one of the song's music performers, through a tweet out of his own profile. Takanori Goto in Bandai Namco is mostly credited for his recurring musical contributions to songs in the iDOLM@STER franchise (and sub-branches), as well as selected Namco Original that date back to the PS2 games' era (Hibike! Taiko no Tatsujin and Mirai e no Kagi among others). By admission of steμ himself for the Otogesai website's song comments, the end product was so surprising to Taiko Team veteran Masubuchi to make him shout "†WAROTA†"... Take of that what you will!

While modes from Kantan to Muzukashii play one on top of each other in Max Combo total terms for having double the amount of notes from the immediately-easier difficulty setting each (90-->180-->360), Seiten no Reimei's Oni mode aims at a 1k-note whopper threat, where a taxingly-high BPM and off rhythms dictate the flow for note cluster strings that are equally stamina-draining and tricky to follow the rhythms for. Figuring the whole reading key out of this notechart won't be as easy as with other speedy pieces!
